Functional and comfortable footwear that makes a difference 1

Green Comfort PLUS – More than just a step ahead It can be difficult to combine footwear fashion, style and solid, sturdy shoes. But as Green Comfort PLUS has shown over the years, it’s far from impossible. Green Comfort PLUS is a Danish footwear brand with more than 25 years’ experience to its name. We are passionate about comfort, well-being and functional footwear. We are known for producing sustainable, high-quality shoes made from first-class materials. The company was founded in 1993 by the current owner and CEO, Jesper Stærmose. All of our PLUS footwear is designed exclusively with a focus on:

stability, flexibility, functionality and cushioning Our aim is to always lie one step ahead by creating solid shoes and happy feet for all of our customers. Jesper Stærmose Jesper Stærmose

EnergySole™ offers superior moisture control thanks to its breathable structure with open cells. A special anti-bacterial coating inhibits the development of smells, mould and stains. Comfort and moisture control is even further improved by the Soft Tex membrane which comprises the top layer of our EnergySole™ insole.

A sturdy foundation for good health and well-being We have gathered together some of the most important arguments in favour of selecting footwear from Green Comfort PLUS. We take around 15,000 steps each and every day and 90% of our time is spent walking or standing on hard surfaces. This doesn’t just put strain on our feet, but it can also have · - · - a negative impact on other parts of the body as well. · - Our feet are the shock-absorbers of the body 70% of the body’s shock absorption happens at the feet. Bones, ligaments, muscles and tendons must all work together and move in harmony with one another. If your feet are unable to cope with this, then other parts of the body will have to step in. The result of this often manifests itself in the form of strain injuries and wear in the knees, legs and hips. Our EnergySoleTM insole counteracts and relieves strain injuries and issues in the feet, knees, hips and back.

DANISH

Green Comfort PLUS is a Danish footwear brand which is authorised to use a patented, orthopedically developed and shock-absorbing insole in its footwear.

THE SOLE – SHOCK ABSORPTION

The Green Comfort PLUS EnergySoleTM has the best shock absorption on the market – and the difference is clear. EnergySoleTM effectively counteracts fatigue and strain injuries in the feet, legs and back. Because the elastic sole is in close contact with the foot, all of the foot’s small muscles are forced into action whenever you move, effectively stimulating blood circulation.

SUSTAINABILITY The shock-absorbing sole will never lose its shock-absorbing effect.

NATURAL SHAPE

- - -

Green Comfort PLUS uses lasts with a solid basis in the world of orthopaedics: · Plenty of space for the toes · Stable constructions, correct gait development · Flexible soles that allow the feet to move naturally

NEW TECHNOLOGY

Green Comfort PLUS uses skin-friendly materials. We place great importance on ensuring that our leather materials are produced in an environmentally friendly way and that all of our textile linings comply with the Øko100 standard. All Green Comfort PLUS footwear has linings made from either leather or textiles. This ensures increased comfort and guarantees a longer lifetime for the footwear.

The wide-reaching benefits of using Green Comfort PLUS footwear

Less pain and tension, more energy Less pain and tension, more energy

Reduced muscle tension, fewer shock impacts and less fatigue

Reduced muscle tension and reduced risk of pain Sensitive joints are protected by support from below

Greater comfort thanks to improved blood circulation

Fewer debilites

Shock absorption at the heel prevents impact from going up into the body

Stronger musculature and improved blood circulation

What are the health benefits? The advantages of EnergySoleTM are more abundant and widereaching than you can imagine! First and foremost, the superior shock absorption protects you from tenderness or pain in the forefoot and heel, while also supporting the legs, knees, hips and back. Next of all – and in contrast to many traditional shoes which “encapsulate” your feet and hold them in place – the EnergySoleTM frees your feet to move and bend as nature intended. This results in stronger muscles which protect the joints and tendons, improved blood circulation that keeps the feet and legs healthier and warmer, and greater levels of physical and mental energy.

Good protection turned on its head Take care of your feet, not the ground

Have you ever wondered why the “soft” side of the sole – which is usually made from spongy rubber, filled with air pockets or equipped with “shock absorbers” – is always faced toward the ground? We asked ourselves the same thing back in 1993 when we were underway designing a shoe that would quite literally turn things on their head; a shoe with soles that protect the feet instead of the ground.

7

We consider all of the factors that make a difference for your feet …

SHOCK ABSORPTION

EnergySoleTM keeps the muscles in the forefoot active, which improves blood circulation and shock absorption. The extra cushioning in our EnergySoleTM serves to replace the natural shock absorption in your heels.

The anatomy of the foot Each foot consists of 26 bones which are connected together by joints. The joints are where all of the movement in the foot takes place. The joints are stabilised by ligaments. The position and the movements of the bones are controlled by a wide range of different muscles in the foot itself and in the leg. The underside of the foot has a protective fat cushion beneath the heel and along the outer rim of the foot and the forefoot. These fat cushions protect the bones, blood vessels and nerves against heavy impact when walking, jumping or running. The fat cushions have a shock-absorbing effect when walking on hard surfaces. This is much needed, as we rarely walk over soft grass or soft forest floors, but tend instead to move around on hard asphalt, concrete, wooden floors and other similar surfaces.

Typical foot problems Sunken forefoot

More accurately known as pes planus transversus, this is a disorder that is cauPLUS sed when the lateral arch of your forefoot flattens. It can be caused by footwear which is too narrow around the forefoot and it often causes hard skin or corns to develop beneath the forefoot. The frequent use of high-heel shoes can exacerbate the problem.

There is plenty you can do yourself to counteract the problem: - perform some simple foot exercises which can train up the muscles - and naturally select footwear with plenty of space and an elastic inner sole that trains the muscles when you walk.

Fat cushions 14

Heel pain – heel spurs Heel pain is caused by overstraining the heel PLUS bone or one of the tendons in the sole of the foot. It can also be caused by an overly tight Achilles’ tendon. Possible causes can include heavy lifting, footwear with hard heels/soles or playing sport that puts strain on the heel. But it can also be due to excessive weight or older age, given that the protective fat cushions under the heel break down as we get older. If you have a stinging pain which goes on for a while, you can develop a heel spur, which is a little bone growth on the underside of the heel bone, at the point where the ligament is attached.

Achilles’ tendon

If you practise sports, then you will need to stop whenever you experience pain, and you can possibly get relief by using shock-absorbing soles. If that doesn’t help, then a special insole or Sockwell compression socks might do the job.

What foot type are you? When choosing functional footwear that makes a difference, it is important that you know your feet and what foot type you have. TIP: Place a sheet of paper on the bathroom floor and step onto it with wet feet. The footprint left behind will reveal what type of foot you have. Alternatively, you can also try using Green Comfort’s AETREX foot scanner.

A: Normal arch: Neutral pronation

B: High arch: High arch, underpronation

C: Flat foot: Low arch and overpronation

EnergySole™ – Our loose soles As previously mentioned, the most crucial element in all of our footwear is our EnergySoleTM. These soles are also available on their own – ready to be slipped into your existing footwear.

EnergySole™ MEMORY

Our new EnergySoleTM MEMORY provides shock absorption and memory. The amplified inner sole consists of three layers. The bottom layer is our 2.5 mm EnergySoleTM which you are well familiar with by now. This provides shock absorption and support and cannot be treaded flat. Above this is a 2mm layer of memory foam which creates a soft surface that moulds around your foot. To finish, the sole is coated with Soft Tex. EnergySoleTM MEMORY guarantees the ultimate comfort experience for your feet!

EnergySoleTM ORIGINAL

EnergySole™ ORIGINAL The super elastic and shock-absorbing base material that forms the cornerstone in all of our insoles. The EnergySoleTM ORIGINAL now comes with a new lining material, Soft Tex, which we use to coat the sole. Soft Tex ensures that moisture is absorbed and helps protect the softness of your shoes under all conditions. EnergySole™ ORIGINAL is marked with helpful scissor lines for use when it is not possible to cut around the existing soles in the shoe you want to improve. This means that the sole now comes in four different size groups. The strength of the foot’s musculature Our patented EnergySoleTM is available in all Green Comfort PLUS ranges and offers the best shock absorption on the market. At the same time, the super elastic inner sole activates the larger and smaller muscles in your foot each time you move, allowing you to retain strength in all of the muscles of your locomotor system. This also improves blood circulation in the feet and legs while counteracting muscle fatigue.
