WATER POLO
The Wagner women’s water polo team upset then No. 12 ranked San Diego State 10-9 in an overtime thriller to earn head coach Chris Radmonovich his 100th career win.
Wagner (25-8, 10-2 MAAC) women’s water polo team bested Marist (20-15, 11-1) 10-8 to capture its second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. The Seahawks defeated the Red Foxes a season ago in the title contest by a score of 9-7.
Jess Lundgren was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and Emily Riddle earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. The Seahawks totaled four members on the 2015 All-MAAC First Team, the most in program history, and one on the All-MAAC Second Team. Joining Lundgren and Riddle on the first team was Lily Doerfler and Jessica Burdge while Megan Rodriguez earned a spot on the second team.
Megan Rodriguez surpassed Chelsea Beck to become the Seahawks’ All-Time assist leader having accumulated more than 238 career helpers.
For the fifirst rst time in program history, the Wagner (25-9, 10-2 MAAC) women’s water polo team fifinished nished the season in the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s National Top 20 Poll.
A pair of Seahawks, Jess Lundgren and Megan Rodriguez were named 2015 Association of Collegiate Water Polo (ACWPC) Coaches All-American Honorable Mention.
