WHY CHOOSE: KAMP KERMIT?

Your 4 or 5-year old child enjoys interacting with a smaller group of children and is comfortable being away from home for a half-day experience.

KIDS CAMP?

Your 5-10 year old child can comfortably spend the whole day away from home, enjoys being around many other children in an urban setting, likes being outdoors, or may be trying out full-day camp for the first time.

CAMP WABANSI?

Your 7-12 year old child is striving for independence, can handle feeling further away from home, enjoys outdoor exploration and activities, or is ready to try spending one night at camp in order to try overnight camp in the future.

CAMP U-NAH-LI-YA?

Your 12-17 year old child has had positive experiences away from home, is striving for independence, or is ready for an overnight camping adventure. YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is a traditional overnight camp located 65 miles north of Green Bay. 3

Your 4-5 year old will enjoy a half day of fun, safe, and healthy activities that are geared toward your child’s developmental level. Thursday field trips are included in their fun-filled week. Your family is welcome to join your camper for an onsite family picnic on Friday complete with songs, skits and camper recognition. Lunch is to be provided from home for all Kamp Kermit programs. Weekly camp fees: Members $110 General Public $135 *Financial Assistance is made available through contributions to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. See page 30 for more information.

ACTIVITIES Kamp Kermit offers a variety of activities throughout the week. Your child will participate in group games, arts and crafts, swimming, stories and songs, creative freeplay, and fitness activities.

HOURS OF OPERATION Kamp Kermit runs from 8:30am to 12:30pm, Monday through Friday.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP There is no bus service for Kamp Kermit. Parents are responsible for arranging transportation to and from camp each day.

HAWAIIAN HULLABALOO

Week 2June 22-26 We are going to run, jump, and play into some amazing adventures this week at Kamp Kermit. Campers will challenge themselves and learn some new games this week. Don’t forget to wear your green and gold as we go to Titletown Park to continue the fun. We are all champions this week!

Week 6July 20-24 Let’s go to Hawaii! This week campers will celebrate fun in the sun with a luau, learn Hawaiian lingo, and do the limbo. The fun continues down at Bay Beach Amusement Park. Let’s pretend we are in the land of endless sunshine!

MESSY CREATIONS Week 3June 29-July 3 Hey campers…do you like to get messy? Then this week is for you! We will explore our creative, yet messy, sides by making some messy art and science projects, leaving the mess here at Kamp Kermit. Don’t worry parents---they will come home clean!

A BUG’S LIFE Week 4July 6-10 It’s a big, wide world out there! Campers will check out the sights of our natural surroundings and look for some creepycrawlies as we explore the great outdoors. The fun will continue down at the Wildlife Sanctuary, as campers will get to see more animals up close.

HIGH SEAS ADVENTURES Week 5July 13-17 Ahoy matey! Kamp Kermit transforms into a pirate adventure this week. Campers will get a fun new pirate name, look for treasure, and challenge themselves with some pirate tasks. We sail on over to Bay Shore Park where the adventures continue.

WATCH ME GROW Week 7July 27-31 The campers will become gardeners this week. We will learn all about the things that can or cannot grow here in Wisconsin. Later in the week, we will venture over to a local greenhouse to see how things flourish all year long.

I’M A HERO! Week 8August 3-7 Let’s all be heroes! This week our little campers will learn all about the heroes that serve our community every day, from police officers to firefighters. We might even learn about a few super heroes too. Campers will venture out to a fire station to thank these local heroes for their service.

MINI GOURMETS Week 9August 10-14 Campers will transform into little chefs for the week and help create fun snacks as we explore the delicious world of culinary creations! We will learn all about kitchen safety, good manners, and menu planning. A few guest chefs will join us to help us perfect our skills. Our field trip will take us to a local restaurant to watch some chefs in action and have a delicious lunch!


TEEN LEADERSHIP JUNIOR COUNSELOR Offered all sessions, ages 11 and up Junior Counselors may register for up to 4 weeks of the program Spend a week learning leadership skills and techniques to last a lifetime. During your week as a JC, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with our counselors. Your journey will include how to lead a group of campers, teach arts & crafts and games, and how to work in a group with your fellow JCs. If you decide to join us for more than one week, you’ll build upon your leadership skills by taking on a more active role and work more closely with our counselors. SUMMER KICK-OFF

WATER WIPEOUT

Week 1June 15-19 School’s out so let the fun begin! Come explore all the great things you can do at KIDS Camp. Later in the week, we head on down to Titletown Park to continue the fun. Come make new friends, play new games, and sing new songs in this summer kick-off!

Week 5July 13-17 It’s not summer camp without water. Campers and counselors will have a blast getting wet! We will play some awesome water games. Ever try hitting a water balloon like a piñata or playing water dodgeball? We will splash on down to the Resch Aquatic Center for more wet fun. No one will leave camp dry this week.

KUNG FU Week 2June 22-26 Hi-ya! It is taekwondo week and Kim’s Tae Kwon Do returns to teach the campers basic taekwondo skills. Campers will have so much fun learning how to use their new skills safely. Join us for the parent show on Friday where you can take a peek at all the fun the campers had this week.

MAD SCIENTISTS Week 3June 29-July 3 Everyone becomes a scientist this week! We’ll get messy with slime, learn how baking soda and vinegar can launch a bottle rocket, protect an egg from a giant fall, create oobleck, and so much more. There will even be some messy art projects. Science has never been so fun!

HOLE IN ONE Week 4July 6-10 Want to learn to swing a golf club like a pro? This week, we team up with The First Tee® to bring golf to you! The instructors will help teach campers the basics of golf. Campers will get to compete in a skills challenge too! We will swing on down to Duck Creek Golf Center to work on our putting skills as well. Every camper hits par in this fun week.

TROPICAL PARADISE Week 6July 20-24 Not everyone can go to the tropics, so this week, the tropics are coming to camp! We’ll have a fun Hawaiian luau, play some awesome beach games, and create some tropical themed craft projects. Later in the week, we will slide on down to Bay Beach Amusement Park to continue the excitement. The fun in the sunny tropics never ends!

COLOR WARS Week 7July 27-31 Red vs. blue vs. green vs. yellow vs. orange vs. purple; it’s time for a color war! Join us this week for a fun twist on traditional Olympic activities. Participants will enjoy sack races, three legged races, a “torch” run, tie dying team shirts and other exciting events. On Friday, there will be a campwide tug of war contest! Counselors will even join an event or two. Everyone is a winner in this color war!

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Week 8August 3-7 Let’s explore where the wild things go! Campers will have a blast exploring nature and the wild world around them. There will be nature hikes and searches for bugs. We continue our exploration at the Wildlife Sanctuary, where more wild things live. Let the wild rumpus begin!


THEME WEEKS

H2-WHOA Week 9August 10-14 Water week was so much fun the first time we are doing it again! This week is all about H20 and the fun we can have with it! There will be plenty of water games and water challenges. We swim on down to the Resch Aquatic Center to continue the water fun. Campers and counselors will get plenty wet during this great week!

CAMP CLOSEOUT Week 10August 17-21 It is the last week of camp so let’s close it out in style! Campers will get to relive all the excitement by playing their favorite games, singing favorite camp songs, and doing their favorite art projects. Campers will also help camp mascot Platy celebrate his birthday. We will continue the fun down at Pamperin Park. Summer may end but the memories from KIDS Camp last forever!

JUNIOR COUNSELOR Junior Counselors are welcome to register for up to five weeks of the program. Spend a week learning leadership skills and techniques to last a lifetime. During your week as a JC, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with our counselors. REGISTRATION AND FEES

YMCA Camp Wabansi is a nationally accredited summer day camp that is owned and operated by the Greater Green Bay YMCA. We go beyond actively engaging kids, we become a home away from home where they can build new relationships, push their boundaries, and learn new skills. The Camp Wabansi experience empowers youth with the core values of the YMCA; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Campers bring their own bag lunch to camp. Each Thursday night, campers stay at camp overnight for a cookout dinner, classic campfire, and a pancake breakfast on Friday morning. Please see the THURSDAY NIGHTS section on page 21 for more information.

Registration is a quick and easy online process at www.campwabansi.org. A variety of payment plans are available to meet specific needs and can be arranged by phone. All program fees must be paid in full by the start of your child’s session. We believe every child deserves a summer camp experience. Financial assistance is made available through contributions to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Call camp for more information. A two-week notice is required to withdraw a camper from a program and receive a partial refund. If appropriate notice is provided, your camp fees minus a $25 cancellation fee per camper per week will be refunded to you. No refunds will be provided with less than two-weeks notice.

ABOUT OUR STAFF At the heart of the Camp Wabansi experience is our team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff. Summer staff members are selected based on their proven abilities working with children and desire to support our mission of building strong kids of solid character. All staff members are at least 18 years old and undergo extensive interviewing, reference checks, and background checks. Pre-camp training includes outdoor skills, activity planning, managing group dynamics, safety training, and child development. 20

TRADITIONAL CAMP ages 7-14 Campers engage in camp activities in small groups of like age and gender supervised by a counselor who will be with them for their entire session. All camp activities throughout the week provide time for all groups to meet and bond with each other. Some campers sign up with friends, although there are plenty of opportunities to meet new friends as well. Theme weeks make each session fresh and exciting. THURSDAY NIGHTS Thursday night is a special night at Camp Wabansi. Campers may invite 3 guests (parents, relatives) to Thursday Family Night! Campers get to share the love and tradition of camp with their guests through tours, skits, songs, games, a campfire, and introductions to the camp staff. Thursday nights are also special because of the overnight stay. All campers are automatically registered for the overnight upon registration which includes our famous hot dog dinner! All camper guests should plan to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy. Campers will spend the night in a cabin or a tent with friends, and wake up to enjoy a Flapjack Friday Breakfast. If you would like to opt your camper out of the overnight, please see the callout box in purple.

ZIPPIN’ ADVENTURE

Week 7July 27-31 Ready to Zip? “Zip Ready!” “Zipping” “Zip On!” Wondering what that is all about? That’s exactly what you’ll hear called out across the beautiful Door County countryside just before you take the jump down the zip line! We’re taking trips up to Door County Adventures for the thrill of a lifetime. Your camper will participate in a zip line excursion as well as kayaking and other great camp activities. All activities are conducted under the supervision of certified zip line operators and adventure guides. First purchased week

SURVIVOR CAMP

Week 3June 29-July 3 and Week 9August 10-14 Your group will be challenged with many outdoor skills including fire-building, basic firstaid, raft-building, and making shelters. They will create some awesome meals over the fire and their tribe and counselors will camp out in Wabansi’s famous “Yabwe” campsite and experience a special tribal council ceremony. Do not hesistate to come twice! Survivor camp changes each session based on our counselors’ specialized knowledge and campers’ unique interests. First purchased week

TEEN LEADERSHIP AGES 14-17

Our Teen Leadership programs are designed progressively in order to develop competent and confident young leaders who seek ways to improve the world around them. The Teen Leadership Director and Teen Leadership Counselor work together to provide meaningful leadership curriculum and hands on learning opportunities. Both programs can be counted as volunteer/community service hours towards graduation and letters of reference can be written upon request. Teen Leaders will develop independence, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the YMCA core values; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING

Offered all sessions, ages 14-16 The first step in unlocking leadership potential. Counselors in Training (CITs) learn fundamental leadership qualities as they participate in counselor shadowing, team-building challenges, and reflective seminar sessions. CITs build skills and strategies that will benefit them for years to come, and they have fun while doing it!

Offered all sessions, ages 16 & 17 After completing a session as a CIT, teens looking to fully develop their leadership abilities become Assistant Counselors (ACs). This is the final step in Wabansi’s program progression. AC’s have the opportunity to plan and lead activities, operate the Camp Store, assist in supervising and managing groups of campers, and complete a service project that gives back to camp. By working side by side with Wabansi Counselors they learn what it takes to become a well rounded and driven leader. AC’s are selected by application and interview. Space is limited. Applications are available at campwabansi.org and are due by June 1st.

The Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya Experience is so much more than summer camp, your camper will develop resilience through adventures, build meaningful relationships with exceptional role models, and gain independence and confidence. Our staff instill youth with the core values of the YMCA; caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is an American Camping Association accredited resident summer camp that is owned and operated by the YMCA of Greater Green Bay. This accreditation ensures that our procedures and protocols are regularly reviewed and meet national standards. We are located near Mountain, Wisconsin. Nestled in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest with 158 wooded acres, three bodies of water, and newly-renovated facilities, it is the perfect setting to provide your camper with an unforgettable summer experience.

4-DAY OVERNIGHT CAMP

Ages 7-9 This introductory program allows your new camper to experience the excitement of overnight camp from Sunday through Wednesday (three nights). Campers will select a specialty area, have access to all choice activities, play all-camp games, spend time with their cabin group, visit the Camp Store, and enjoy open recreation times under the supervision of the camp staff. This program is a wonderful bridge from day camp to overnight camp.

6-DAY OVERNIGHT CAMP

Ages 9-14 Our classic overnight camp experience, sixday overnight camp is full of traditions, activities, and adventure. Campers individually choose a specialty area of programming to focus on throughout the week. In addition, every camper gets to choose special activities to try around camp during “choice time”. The rest of the day is spent building friendships with their cabin group, visiting the Camp Store and enjoying open recreation times. Evening activities include all-camp games like Capture the Flag, skits, s’mores around the campfire, and a tent camping experience on Wednesday night.

EXTREME TEEN ADVENTURES

Ages 12-14 The perfect introduction to the world of high adventure outdoor recreation in America’s great Northwoods. Tailored for adventure seekers ages 12-14 and designed to grow your camper’s character. Each has a specific intensity level and run in one week durations. Whether your camper is a first timer or they are ready for the most physically demanding camps, we have a program that is great for your kid. These camps are specialized adventure programs that fill up fast! You’ll want to register as early as possible to secure your spot.

EXCURSION TRIPS

Ages 14-17 For our oldest and most seasoned campers. These trips are tailored for campers ages 14-17 and have a variety of intensity levels. Our experienced staff act as guides; facilitating high adventure with an emphasis on leadership and teamwork. These camps are two weeks in duration and offer a unique opportunity for campers to engage the wilderness like never before. These camps are specialized adventure programs that fill up fast! You’ll want to register as early as possible to secure your spot.

TEEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

Ages 15-17 Our Teen Leadership Programs give your teen a chance to develop their skills working with campers, their team, and our staff of mentors. Designed for high school students, the Counselor In Training (CIT) program concentrates on building the skills needed to be an effective counselor and youth mentor.

DAY CAMP CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY

A two-week written notice is required to cancel your child’s week of camp and receive any refund. If appropriate written notice is provided, you will receive a refund minus: Day Camp: $25 cancellation fee (per child/per week) Overnight Camp: $100 non-refundable deposit (per child/per session) Cancellations should be sent directly to the Camp Director. No refunds will be given with less than a two-week notice.

HEALTH FORMS

Health forms are required and must be submitted to camp at least 2 weeks prior to your child’s camp session. Find forms online at www.greenbayymca.org. The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families requires that each participant’s immunization and health history be on file at the site in case of emergency.

CAMP FEES

All fees are due prior to the start of your camper’s session. YMCA membership is not required for participation.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Everybody belongs at Y Camp. The YMCA provides membership and program services to anyone regardless of their ability to pay. Financial assistance is made possible through a variety of grants, as well as through contributions to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Please contact the appropriate Camp Director or Camp Office for more information.
