There is a band of Greenbelters who give money to the Festival because they believe in what it is. They’re called Angels and we think they’re heavenly. Angels first started to give because they wanted to safeguard the future of Festival. Now they give because they want that future to be as incredible as possible. We think Greenbelt is a sign of hope. Angels see that, too. They invest in this hopefulness. Find out how to get in on the futurebuilding act at greenbelt.org.uk/angels
From the site crew who build the Festival to the Trustees who shape its vision, and from the programme group to the stewards, Greenbelt is volunteer-led. Over 1,700 people, aged 16+, come together with all sorts of skills, willing to help make Greenbelt happen. They have fun, make friends and enable 20,000 people to have a wonderful weekend. The programme for Greenbelt 2008 is beginning to come together. Like the sunrise, its first rays are warming our faces. From visual and performing arts to literature and worship and from talks and music to all-age fun and the Children’s Festival, as we announce names, we’ll post details to greenbelt.org.uk/lineup
Talks The return of Philip Yancey, Prof Keith Ward on ‘Why there is almost certainly a God’, Bev Thomas on ‘The Beatification of Enoch Powell’, Dave Dark on ‘The Gospel According to America’, Salley Vickers, author of Mr Golightly’s Holiday, Iwan Russell Jones on ‘Sport as 21st century religion’, and Lucy Winkett.
Music an eclectic mixture of the grand and the grassroots. Already booked, alt rock outfit [dweeb] and festival favourites yFriday – with many more offers out with big-named artists as we go to print.
Communion as well as a wonderful array of worship – ancient and modern – across all four days, we’re moving the Festival’s communion service to the afternoon! See greenbelt.org.uk/ communion for more.
Children, young people and all-age with more children, young people and families coming each year, we’re working to improve our all-age programming – for noughts to nineties (and all those in between).
The Kitchen get round the table in this brand new Greenbelt venue. It’s where you’ll get inspired with fresh thinking and equipped to live it out. It’s where you can come and tease out the issues of being and doing where you’re at. And by night it’s where you can debate the contentious stuff. So, come and see what’s cooking in The Kitchen.

We’ll ring-fence your donations and give the majority of it to a project mitigating against the effects of climate change in the developing world. See greenbelt.org.uk/levy for more details. We’ll also keep a small bit back to help make it easier for you to get to Greenbelt in shared or public transport. See greenbelt.org.uk/transport for more on the sort of options we’re exploring.

Hush. Stillness. Anticipation. The moments before the sunrise.
The night has been long. The dark and cold have us hemmed in.
But now the first rays of daylight are seeping over the horizon.
Another day is dawning. Soon we will see the Rising Sun.

If you want to join our volunteer community, please go to greenbelt.org.uk/volunteer and/or email volunteers@greenbelt.org.uk
Trust Greenbelt funds projects like Epic Arts – working to include people with physical disabilities in creative activity. The next review of the grant-making group is in April. If you want an application considered then you need to have it in by the end of March. Trust Greenbelt has already funded some great projects combining faith, justice and the arts. For an insight into how your giving is making a difference and also to find out to apply go to greenbelt.org.uk/trust

There are inserts with this mailer from our partners, Christian Aid and DFID, and three associates, CMS, YMCA and Ecclesiastical Insurance.
