“While I have been in the garment care business for 27 years, I only became a GreenEarth Affiliate last year. I must say the change over to GreenEarth has revitalized me in my business. I finally feel that I sell something that I 100% believe in. It has truly given me and my business a new green identity that I believe will help grow my business in a big way. Congratulations (to the early adopters) for having the foresight to see the light at the end of the tunnel and realize it wasn’t a freight train.” Ken Kinzer, Bridgestone Cleaners Brooklyn, NY
“I read all the promotional material you sent us and I thought it sounded too good to be true. I thought that if half of your claims were true I would be happy, that it was a lot of hype to sell the product. Well I am delighted to say that every last word about the benefits of GreenEarth Cleaning is true and more… We are producing the best garment I have ever seen in dry cleaning and I am a third generation dry cleaner, have been in business all my life. I especially love how soft, bright and beautiful the silk garments are! My pressers love the fact that the clothes are less wrinkled and easier to finish. Most of all, I am so happy that I don’t have to breathe perc anymore.” Debbie Schuster, Blossom Hill Cleaners Los Gatos, CA

“Everything I’d heard about GreenEarth was true. Clothes have no odour at all, very little linting and static electricity, blacks are blacker, colours are deeper, whites are whiter. We’ve been throwing in beads, glued trim, a 50 year old baptism gown, anything and everything and it comes out looking great! Everything just feels softer and drapes nicer. Aside from the more rigid maintenance schedule and being careful not to introduce spotting water into the machine, the training and conversion was a total non-event and much smoother than anticipated.” Andy Lien, Camelot Cleaners Fargo, ND
It isn’t easy being green. Unless you’re GreenEarth®.
Environmentalists, scientists, politicians, health professionals, consumers, regulators, and the IFI (now the DCI, Dry Cleaning & Laundry Institute), everyone sees what you saw when you first made the move to invest in a hydrocarbon system. The dry cleaning industry has no alternative but to find a safe alternative to perc. California was the first state to ban perc and it likely won’t be the last. As a hydrocarbon operator, your goal was to stay a step ahead of the industry. The last thing you wanted was to be stuck in the middle of the pack again, facing the prospect of tougher air quality compliance regulations and trying to stand out from the competition. Although hydrocarbon turns out not to be the “green” choice many thought it was with VOCs (volatile organic compounds) coming under increasing regulatory scrutiny and the inescapability of a cleanup if improperly handled, there is good news. Most machines that use hydrocarbon solvent can also use GreenEarth. And GreenEarth is the one alternative to perc that truly makes it easy to be green. When you consider every aspect, GreenEarth does a better job of maximizing the return on your investment. Better for environmental compliance. Better for your customers. Better for your employees. Better for your liability concerns. Even better for your bottom line. And we’re not just marketers saying that. GreenEarth Cleaning is a company formed and run by long-time dry cleaners, all intimately familiar with the unique challenges of running a successful dry cleaning operation.
Easier to be environmentally responsible. GreenEarth is so safe the EPA does not regulate it. Which means it’s safe for the air, water and soil. Unlike hydrocarbon, the GreenEarth solution is not a VOC; it’s non-toxic and non-hazardous. If you wanted to, you could safely rub it on your skin. In fact, you probably already do. That’s because GreenEarth’s solution is pure liquid silicone—essentially liquefied sand. It’s the same base ingredient found in everyday shampoos, conditioners and lotions. When released to the environment, GreenEarth safely breaks down into its three natural elements – sand (SiO2) and trace amounts of water and carbon dioxide. So there’s never any worry about expensive groundwater or soil contamination cleanups.
1
Easier to trust. Over 30 million dollars worth of testing and research has been done to confirm that GreenEarth’s solution is ecologically friendly and safe to use. But at GreenEarth, we do something remarkable with that information. We make the results public. So if you have any questions about how we do what we do, and how well we do it, you can just look up the answers for yourself. We’re proud to be the only dry cleaning alternative to perform and openly report extensive testing on its environmental and health and safety profile.
Easier on garments. Extensive DLI testing confirms that GreenEarth cleans as well as perc with no environmental concerns. In addition, DLI testing shows that with GreenEarth, you can safely clean a wider variety of specialty fabrics, beads, sequins and trims. And, GreenEarth has the least amount of dye bleeding of any solvent system. So garments you currently turn away or send out can now be processed and contribute to your bottom line.
Easier to work with. GreenEarth and hyrdrocarbon machines/programs operate very much the same, but silicone’s unique properties of low surface tension and moisture retention produces garments with less wrinkling and lint. Another benefit is that while hydrocarbon has a slight petroleum odour, GreenEarth has no odour. Don’t you think your employees would love to work in an odourless shop for a change?
Easier to save money. Because GreenEarth affords better solvent mileage and reduces a substantial percentage of the labor from the dry cleaning process, you benefit two ways. Your costs go down and your productivity goes up. Other money saving benefits: reduced claims as a result of damage, shrinkage or fading, minimal to no environmental insurance costs, and no future cleanup costs.
Easier to grow sales. Affiliates who market GreenEarth’s odourfree, eco-friendly difference often see sales go up immediately. GreenEarth has an instantly recognizable brand appeal and a green solution that is sustainable in every sense of the word. And because customers can actually see, touch and smell the difference in their clothes, they tend to bring more items in, more often. Even better, they recommend it to their friends and family. You don’t just get customers. You get loyal customers.
Easier to promote. As a GreenEarth Affiliate, you have access to a wide variety of professionally developed, high-quality, customizable advertising and promotion materials as a part of your license fee. Ads, brochures, posters, direct mail postcards, Valpak, Money Mailers, van

wraps, email marketing, QR codes, hotel and route marketing, outdoor billboards, hang tags, garment care tags, counter top materials, window decals, press releases, you name it—all designed to highlight what makes your store(s) better and all easily customized with your store’s name, logo, address and phone number.
Easier to get landlord approval. Remember, the silicone used in the GreenEarth Cleaning process is so safe the EPA doesn’t regulate it—either in dry cleaning or in any of its other many applications. So landlord concerns at locations where other dry cleaning solvents are prohibited aren’t a concern with GreenEarth. To make the approval process easier, we provide professionally developed materials designed to educate landlords about the environmental and traffic-building advantages GreenEarth can bring to their retail site.
Easy to afford equipment. The average price of a machine to run GreenEarth is no more than a class IIIA hydrocarbon machine. In fact, GreenEarth can run in most hydrocarbon machines.
“When you go to the grocery store and buy organic foods, you’re buying foods that are pesticide-free and absent of any growth stimulants. But when you buy any other product that is labeled “organic”, all you’re getting is a product that contains a hydrocarbon, because by definition a chemical is organic if it contains the element carbon. DF2000 is indeed organic, but so is gasoline and most all other dry cleaning solvents used since the industry was created…so the word “organic” doesn’t translate to environmentally friendly, chemical-free and “green” when it comes to dry cleaning….only three dry-cleaning processes are truly environmentally friendly: wet cleaning, carbon-dioxide systems and siloxane fluids…such as GreenEarth.” Arizona Republic, Aug 22, 2007 “Feud erupts over ‘organic’ dry cleaner”

“After reviewing a number of environmentally friendly technologies, I found the GreenEarth solution to be the only real option for me. Equally important as its performance is its affordable cost, which is considerably less expensive than other alternatives.” Mack Davis, Medlin-Davis Cleaners Raleigh, NC
Look before you leap.
Like any good businessperson, you will want to look at all your options before making a decision. In fact, we encourage you to do so. Go online, talk with trusted industry sales professionals, and visit as many plants as you can. When all is said and done, we’re confident you’ll find GreenEarth to be your dry cleaning method of choice. Remember, we’re all former dry cleaners ourselves. We know what it takes to be successful in this industry.
What about professional wet cleaning and CO2? Both are very good choices environmentally, but less than one-third of one percent of dry cleaners use CO2 or 100% wet cleaning today. Why? Likely because equipment, production and finishing costs are so much higher, and the processes so different, few operators have been able to turn a profit using either system exclusively. Wet cleaning is optimally efficient when it represents 20-50% of the overall processing in a dry cleaning plant. We believe it to be the optimal partner with the GreenEarth system. The challenge CO2 operators face is that the large capital investment in equipment typically dictates a higher pricing structure and/or a central plant with drop store operating model, which can indicate a lower profit margin than packaged plants. The high pressure required to turn CO2 gas into liquid can damage buttons, crush acetate linings and cause excessive wrinkling. And with so few CO2 machines being sold, reliable parts and service over the long term may remain a concern. GreenEarth is a better choice for you.
Why not stick with hydrocarbon solvent? Sold under brand names like DF-2000® and EcoSolv® by Exxon-Mobil and Chevron-Phillips, hydrocarbon solvent has been a popular alternative for dry cleaners looking to move away from perc for its affordability and and familiarity in equipment design. Here at GreenEarth, we are seeing a significant increase in the number of hydrocarbon cleaners switching to GreenEarth, fueled by frustrations that hydrocarbon hadn’t turned out to be the “green” solution they had been looking for. Environmental concerns around hydrocarbon’s VOC status has caused it to come under increasing regulatory scrutiny. Hydrocarbon is also listed by the EPA as a neurotoxin and skin and eye irritant for workers and would likely require a clean-up if spilled. Hydrocarbon users also found it difficult to market themselves as truly “eco-friendly”; GreenEarth’s ecoprofile and marketing supports eliminate those concerns. The good news for operators using DF2000 or EcoSolv is that most IIIA machines that run hydrocarbon solvent can easily switch to GreenEarth. 4 1
What’s the story on System K-4? Introduced to the European market in October of 2010, System K-4 is the newest alternative solvent system on the market. Although Kruessler has chosen not to release details of K-4’s chemical composition, laboratory analysis has confirmed that the solvent is formaldehyde dibutyl acetal, also known as dibutoxymethane. The higher KB value of System K-4 gives it a more aggressive cleaning profile - closer to perc than most alternative solvents. Kruessler mandates the use of four proprietary products (solvent, detergent, pre-spotter and water repellant) to operators of System K-4. The combination of additives is designed to improve cleaning performance as well as stablize the solvent’s chemical composition and maintain the 143º F flashpoint. The K-4 system requires a specific Class IIIA machine configuration. In an effort to remove as much as the characteristic odour from the garments as possible prior to removal from the machine, machine manufacturers have developed modifications to standard drying systems (fan inverters, multiple refrigeration coils and expansion valves, button trap dampers). Other equipment modifications designed to safeguard against “cracking” of the solvent include the elimination of carbon (cartridges) and activiated clay (Tonsil®) filtration capabilities coupled with security features designed to lower the probability of attaining unsafe distillation temperature levels. Although positioned as eco-friendly, K-4 is a significant VOC with minimum incremental reactivity (MIR) that is more than three times higher than hydrocarbon sovents used in dry cleaning.
“We took a close look at how perc compares to the newer “green” processes in regards to both cleaning and impact on the environment. We found that while perc is good on greasy stains like oil and lipstick, GreenEarth, a liquid silicone cleaner that’s supposed to degrade to sand, carbon dioxide, and water was the best overall at removing stains. If it does break down as claimed, that’s good news for consumers and the planet.” Good Housekeeping, July 28, 2011

Your competitors will be green with envy.
All of us here so much appreciate the opportunity to work with the GreenEarth team. Our employees wouldn’t use any other solvent and our customers love the way their clothes look, feel and don’t smell! In January we recieved the Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Achievement Award. We are the first cleaner in our six state region to receive this prestigious award from the EPA. We know the EPA award would not have been possible if we had been using a solvent that is a VOC since global warming has become such an environmental issue. It is gratifying to know that we are doing the right thing for our customers, our employees, our business and the environment. Tom Rowland, Colorado Mountian Cleaners SIlverthorne CO
The best part about being a GreenEarth cleaner is the instant appeal it creates with customers. GreenEarth offers a fresh, unique way to dry clean, and people genuinely love it. In a sea of sameness—where everyone talks about quality, service and convenience—you can stand out with something truly different. While there are many unique benefits to GreenEarth Cleaning, our Affiliates find that the two messages that attract the most new customers are “odour-free” and “environmentally friendly”. Odour is the #1 process complaint in dry cleaning. And there has never been a time in history when “green” has meant more to consumers. Consumers actually go out of their way for benefits like these. Affiliates who market their difference report sales increases in the double digits, year after year.
Win lifetime customers Once customers try GreenEarth, they don’t want to go back to “regular” dry cleaning. That’s because, unlike superficial marketing claims, GreenEarth offers customers something they can actually see, feel and smell. Colours are brighter, whites are whiter, and clothes are free of damage or shrinkage. They are softer, drape nicely, and feel better on. And of course, they no longer have any nasty dry cleaning odour; everything is fresh and clean right out of the bag. Many customers try GreenEarth because of what it does for the planet, but they become customers for life because of what it does for their clothes!
Stand out in your community Our name means alot. GreenEarth Cleaning tells your community that you are that special cleaner. All too often, the quick, transactional nature of dropping off and picking up dry cleaning makes it easy to forget just how much customers care about the garments they have dry cleaned, and how much they care about looking and feeling good in them. People don’t want to have their special, high-quality garments cleaned by just anyone. They want a special, high-quality cleaner. One who is as effective as he/she is environmentally friendly.
Market your difference effortlessly GreenEarth Cleaning Affiliates have something else that competitors envy: a built-in marketing advantage. Not only is GreenEarth a strong, recognizable brand name and logo, affiliation

“Hydrocarbon-based solvents produce good results, but so did the telegraph and the Model T in their day. People want to take advantage of the benefits of new technology, whether it’s a cell phone, a personal computer, or a safer, gentler drycleaning system. With chlorinated hydrocarbons, you had to put up with faded colors on some fabrics, especially silk, and a scratchy, rough feeling on others. And that chemical scent lingered on everything. With GreenEarth cleaning, you lose all those negatives. And gentle as it is, it cleans as well as hydrocarbons. Independent tests have verified it. As soon as I saw the results you get from the GreenEarth Cleaning System, I knew I had to install it in my business. My customers are used to the best, and there’s no question that GreenEarth Cleaning is the best drycleaning system available.” Doug Koloski, Dry Cleaning Station Atlantic Highlands, NJ

“(GreenEarth) as an alternative dry cleaning solvent will not pose adverse health risks to the public . . . ARB sees no need to regulate its use.” California Air Resources Board, 2008
The bottom line: your bottom line. GreenEarth is more than an alternative cleaning system; it is a solution for an industry badly in need of one. Dry cleaners today face many challenges. Meeting growing consumer and regulatory demand for an environmentally safe alternative to perc. Reversing the long-term decline in piece count. Staying competitive in an overcrowded marketplace. Meeting capital needs. Attracting and keeping good employees. Securing landlord approval. Avoiding liability for costly cleanups. Protecting the business for future generations. With GreenEarth Cleaning, it’s all possible.
Higher sales • Attract new customers and build loyalty and piece count with current customers—our Affiliates who market their difference consistently report same-store sales increases in the double digits • No need to send special garments out—an average of three items per week can mean thousands more every year in net sales • Allows more packaged plant operations, which offer more volume potential
Lower labor/production costs • Significantly less classification means fewer loads per day and fewer lost/misplaced items • Faster, easier finishing—clothes come out less wrinkled, less linty, and static-free • Less special handling—no special handling necessary on delicate silks, beaded gowns or wedding dresses • Time saved means more garments can be processed—more profits
Lower operating costs • Lower waste hauling costs—up to 70% less waste by volume, some waste haulers offer a savings of 60% over perc and 22% over petroleum on each 55-gallon drum of waste • Lower energy costs: run full loads—more garments cleaned in fewer loads • Combining filter mediums such as activated clays, ACF (Tonsil® or activated clay) can significantly reduce utility demand for solvent puification—by 85% • No need for environmental insurance or worry about future cleanup costs • Excellent mileage—Affiliates report a range of 1200-1,600 pounds/gallon
8
• Package plants afford big increases in efficiency • No permitting fees or annual inspections in most air districts; depending upon the landlord, cleanup insurance expense may not be necessary
Decreased claims expense • Gentle on all fabrics; won’t damage leather trims, rubber backing, decorative trims, beads, sequins or polyvinyl; won’t dissolve glue and adhesives • No shrinkage or fading • On average, Affiliates report a 90% reduction in damage claim costs
Minimize time and hassle on environmental compliance • GreenEarth is not regulated by RCRA, CERCLA, EPA or California Proposition 65 • Officially affirmed by California’s Air Resources Board as an acceptable solvent alternative, and based on the available expsoure information, the use of D5 in GreenEarth’s patented dry cleaning process will not pose a risk to the public living near business using D5 • Significantly less time on environmental and regulatory paperwork and reporting • In every district in California except the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, permitting is not required (in BAQMD a permit is required in order not to have a permit.)
Landlord preference • Non-hazardous solvent means no liability issues • Brand appeal builds retail traffic • Renew leases at current locations and obtain leases at locations that previously wouldn’t allow dry cleaners “When real estate agent Ellen Morrell recently moved into her Georgetown home, she took a mountain of household items to her dry cleaner—down comforters, quilts, blankets. When they came back, she was pleased with one thing that wasn’t there. “I definitely noticed the difference in odour. They didn’t smell like dry cleaning,” Morrell said. “They definitely were better. The colors stayed vibrant… (GreenEarth) just doesn’t break the fabric down…Owner Joe Lothrop—who has been doing dry cleaning for 30 years and whose father was in the business before him, already swears by it. “I’ll never use another solvent in my entire life,” he declared recently while taking a visitor on a tour of his plant, which is noticeably lacking any smell announcing it as a dry cleaner. In 30 years in the industry I’ve never seen anything so revolutionary.” The Washington Post, November 9, 2000 “Dry Cleaning that’s Easier on Your Nose and Clothes.”

How the GreenEarth Cleaning Affiliate program works.
“When we were looking at taking Tide’s history and heritage in cleaning into the dry cleaning space, there was only one partner we considered to help pave the way: GreenEarth. Their industry expertise and technology made GreenEarth a perfect fit for Tide Dry Cleaners, and has helped our business get off to a great start in Kansas City. The consumer response to the Tide Dry Cleaning test stores has been overwhelmingly positive, and GreenEarth’s role in providing the consumer experience we were looking for can’t be overlooked. We couldn’t be happier.” Gary Coombe, Procter & Gamble Cincinnati, OH
Annual license fee Because the GreenEarth Cleaning system is a patented process, and both our name and logo are trademarked, it is necessary to charge an annual licensing fee for the use of our patents and trademarks. In doing so, we believe we’re not only protecting the exclusivity of the GreenEarth brand, but protecting our Affiliates and the investment they make in GreenEarth as well. The fee for each machine is $1,500. The license gives your business the right to use and market GreenEarth’s exclusive solution. The license period begins on the first day of the month following the month in which startup takes place, and fees are renewed annually every 12 months. Renewals can be paid in a lump sum or in monthly installments.

From our end, we will be looking to make sure that the “fit” is right. Our Affiliates represent the “face” of the GreenEarth brand to the public. You won’t be happy, and neither will we, if we don’t share the same values and commitment to operational excellence. Partnering with like-minded business owners who put customers, quality and environmental responsibility first helps protect your investment and ours.
Learn the local regs Your next steps will be to learn about any local regulations you would need to comply with and assess your equipment and supply needs. It is smart to get in touch with your state’s department of environmental protection and with your local fire marshal regarding fire codes. GreenEarth has the highest flashpoint of any class IIIA solvent, so it affords a higher margin of safety than hydrocarbon. That being said, there is no one-size-fits-all with fire code compliance; each municipality has its own set of zoning and building codes. What you should know is that although these codes dictate what the standards are, how those standards are met is often a call that can be made by the individual fire marshal. Since their main concern is overall life safety, fire marshals are often willing to work with operators on alternative ways to make a plant safer for the community. Early warning systems and fire walls, for example, help protect people while sprinkler systems protect only equipment and buildings.
Machines, detergents, GE and P&G GreenEarth, in partnership with Procter & Gamble and General Electric, both founding members of GreenEarth Cleaning LLC, has conducted extensive testing and optimization for our system. We have developed an approved list of several different machines, detergents and spotting agents that meet our quality standards to make your selection of a quality system easy and keep it affordable. You will want to talk with the manufacturing reps of course, but we are happy to co-consult with you on these decisions and share our experience.
In no time, the final step The final step is to sign a License Agreement, a contract that represents your official membership application. After you join the Affiliate Network, you will be contacted by a GreenEarth representative who will help you prepare for start-up. The whole process is very simple. You can be an approved GreenEarth operator within weeks!

“I am now using GreenEarth and can honestly say that it is the best solvent I have ever used. I am very happy with it. I have put jumpers I have had for 20 years through GreenEarth and they come out feeling like new. Soft, and with a beautiful hand. [Cost] was not an issue as far as I was concerned. You know what the cost is before you make the decision to purchase. I have not adjusted our prices. There are also savings to be had with GreenEarth. Everyone talks about the solvent being more expensive, but they forget the costs they are not up for once they switch.” Steve Gordon, Florida Drycleaners Sydney, Australia
“Going with GreenEarth was the single best business decision I have made in the last 10 years. Gettng rid of perc was huge for us. We are a leather wholesaler. GreenEarth does an excellent job with leather, we use it for everything, even colors. Our walk-in customers just love it.” Pat Moffat, Ram Leather Care St. Louis, MO
“I really like being a part of the GreenEarth family and am proud to be an Affiliate. I work hard to differeniate myself and my business and GreenEarth has helped me accomplish that. Having GreenEarth in my plant is more than just “which solvent I use. It’s a community, it’s a family, it’s the way I want to do business.” Craig Goulian Emerson Cleaners Emerson, NJ

KBV is a measure of the strength of the solvent alone in dissolving Kauri Gum (degreasing ability) GreenEarth without detergent has a low KBV, meaning that it is not itself a cleaning agent, but the unique chemical interaction 1 that siloxanes have with detergent allows it to clean as effectively as higher KB value solvents without risk of damage to the fabric. 4 100% wet cleaning processing. “I am writing to all you as my Partners in my business, to profoundly say Thank You for the assistance you have so graciously afforded me. Without all of you I would not have succeeded. Period! In one word, Jim Douglas saved my ass in this business and for that I am eternally grateful...Jim you are the BEST resource a dry cleaner could ever hope to have! Tim, what you and your Team have done with GreenEarth Cleaning from a marketing perspective is outstanding. You have provided me with invaluable advice as I started up my business and I am grateful to have GreenEarth Cleaning as a Partner. I have no idea why any owner would not want to be a part of your Team. Warm Personal Regards, Paul Polinsky, Dry Cleaning Station Durham, NC

“We couldn’t be happier with our (switch to GreenEarth after 25 years with perc). We have been amazed at the cleaning results we are seeing - from the feel of the garments, the brightness of the colors, the lack of odour to the ease of finishing. Every contact with everyone at GreenEarth reinforces our belief that your company has the tools and the desire to help its licensed Affiliates translate our excitement to our customers. Thank you again for sharing your wealth of knowledge and for making us feel that you are invested in our success.” Janice Holtsclaw, Dry Cleaning Plus Cincinnati, OH
“We have been profiled on TV four times in the last six months, from morning news segments to the Discovery Channel. GreenEarth has raised our profile to consumers and the media.” Tim Yoo, Eco Cleaners Toronto, Canada
“I am able to clean more and worry less. I no longer worry about trim, such as beads and sequins, melting or fading. In fact, GreenEarth has allowed us to establish and promote our Premier Gown Cleaning Service, which has boosted sales in a market that has been on the soft side.”
