Youth Builders’ Kidprint ID Team Visits Preschools
Free Service Available To Local Families
The Greeneville Youth Builders’ Kidprint ID team was busy during April and May visiting every preschool classroom in Greeneville and Greene County.
The program provides families who wish to participate with valuable identification information for their children.
“The preschoolers with permission from their families were photographed and had their right thumbprint taken,” program officials say in a news release. “Along with other identification information, Youth Builders printed a credit card-sized plastic ID for the preschoolers’ parents, grandparents, and/or guardians.”
These cards are given to the child’s family and can be used by the family and authorities if the child were to go missing.
“This service is provided starting at 3 years of age at no cost to the families or the schools,” the release says. “The data that generates the identification card is not shared, and is deleted immediately.”
Youth Builders encourages families to get a new card each year because the appearance of children changes as they grow.
WORKSHOP
During the last decade, the Youth Builder’s Kidprint ID program has provided thousands of families with these valuable identification cards and has also provided IDs to individuals who do not have a driver’s license who need a photo ID, officials note.
Any community, educational, or church organization that would like to have this service should contact Youth Builders at youthbuildersofgreeneville@gmail.com.
Youth Builders were awarded a Modern Woodman of America grant to help support this important program. Youth Builders also supports the Kidprint
ID program with fundraising events, such as the Trivia Night event held in February at the Link Hills Country Club.
“Youth Builders of Greeneville was chartered in 1946 with the objective to build a new accredited high school in Greeneville,” officials add. :In the ensuing 75 years, our organization has developed into a volunteer organization to support the children and youth in the community.
“The organization’s mission is to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, church, and community, and to contribute needful service to community independently, and in partnership with other organizations,” they add.
Some of the organizations and programs that Youth Builders support are: the Greene County Child Health and Development Department, Greeneville preschool classes, the Greeneville-Greene County Public Library, the Greeneville-Greene County History Museum, the Volunteer Spirit Awards, Holston United Methodist Home for Children, the Boys & Girls Club of Greeneville & Greene County, Gifts for Kids, and the Junior Achievement program.
In addition, Youth Builders provides college scholarships annually to local high school students.
