Greene Devils Rally Past Brighton

SMYRNA — Give the Greeneville Greene Devils an inch and they’ll take a win.

Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Greeneville pushed across three runs – two unearned – for a 4-2 victory over Brighton in the first round of the Class 3A baseball state tournament on Tuesday night at Smyrna High School. The Devils also scored an unearned run in the third for their first run.

In the Greeneville sixth, the Devils put runners at first and second when Carson Quillen led off with a double to left field and Colton Richards worked a walk.

Carson Norris then put down also focused on the landing.”

Tuesday was the first time Greeneville track coach Larry Blalock can remember a Greene Devil winning gold in two field events at the state meet in his 10 years with the program.
