Directions from the A11 – from the North/Saffron Walden (11.6 miles and approximately 21 minutes travelling by car).

From Great Dunmow High Street, take the B184 signposted to Thaxted. Continue on, passing through Great Easton and stay on this road until you reach Thaxted town centre. Pass through the town centre, where you will see the Guildhall on your left. Continue up the hill (Watling St) where the road bears sharp right by The Swan hotel/pub.

Take Junction 9A off the A11, signposted Saffron Walden and then at the first roundabout take the first exit onto the B184. Continue along the B184, bypassing Gt Chesterford and Little Chesterford on your right and keep going until you reach Saffron Walden. Stay on this road the B184 will now become the High St. Continue down to the bottom of the hill and turn left at the traffic lights into George Street (still the B184). At the mini roundabout, take the second exit (still B184). Continue until the traffic lights and crossroads, where you turn right, signposted to Thaxted (still B184). Follow this road for approximately six miles until you reach the B1051 Sampford Rd, on your left. Turn into Sampford Rd and you will find Thatcher's Grange on your right, just after Bellrope Meadow.

At this point the road name changes to Newbiggen Street, but it is still the B184 to Saffron Walden. Continue along the B184 until you see the B1051, Sampford Road, on the right hand side. Turn onto the B1051 and you will find Thatcher's Grange on the right hand side, just past Bellrope Meadow.
