Welcome to our second biennial You’ve Got a Friend Auction. The inaugural auction was held June 2013—not only was it a great success, it was fun and created a community of friends. What a joy that evening was, and we are proud to have another group of 63 friends who are giving time to become your friend. To those of you who are new to You’ve Got a Friend…. The idea is simple, we are auctioning "friend-time" to spend time with "friends" who will show you how to do something new, create a wonderful experience, or will lead you on a fun adventure... i.e., things friends do for other friends. All of this in support of Greenhill and all the great things that happen here... • • • •

WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH THE ANNUAL MEETING? Installation artist and guest speaker, Jonathan Brilliant will have a conversation about why nonprofit visual art organizations are critical to creative development and career path of the artist. Annual Meeting attendees will inaugurate Jonathan Brilliant’s monumental installation which will be created in The Gallery over the course of 10 days. Admission is free for the auction if you attend the Annual Meeting.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JUST BUY IT + SILENT AUCTION ITEMS? Just Buy It items can be bought immediately, no bidding required. Just Buy It items are available throught the evening. ABOUT JOEY Joey Adams is a founding partner & President of The Forge which opened in July 2014 in Downtown Greensboro. A makerspace, The Forge provides tools and fosters collaboration that gives every idea an opportunity and every creative interest an outlet. The workshop area provides access to equipment not commonly available to individuals. The collaborative space provides an area for advanced software development, digital design, electronics fabrication, meetings, and seminars.

Jack has been making and exhibiting paintings for more than 35 years. He received his BFA in Painting at UNC-G in 1977; he served as a bookbinder at the Jackson Library for ten years, and as a preparator at the Weatherspoon Art Museum for 20 years. He currently paints in his Greensboro studio, teaches and is a freelance preparator, curator, art handler and lighting consultant.

ABOUT ROD Rod Cooper is an artist and designer. As a founding partner of Cooper Cockerham Inc., he spent 35 years in advertising and art direction and in that time frame he created around 1,000 catalog rooms for the camera. In 2010 Rod retired and after a 30-year hiatus he began painting and creating art again. Whether at work or at home, Rod has always had a passion for making things beautiful which is why he was drawn to his long time hobby of flower arranging. He learned his techniques growing up from his mother and his parent's Japanese housekeeper.

BILL FICK THE ART OF THE PRINT

WHAT AM I BIDDING ON? Experience a three hour personal lesson in screen printing with artist Bill Fick, the co-director of Supergraphic in Durham. Supergraphic is a creative art studio dedicated to the production of fine art prints and print media. Bill will show you around Supergraphic and Super G Print Lab, a near by satellite studio where printmaking workshops are taught and artists can rent studio time to work on their own print projects. Bill will also give you an introduction to screen printing techniques and methods - you'll be pulling a print in no time!

ABOUT BILL Bill Fick is a printmaker who lives and works in Durham, NC and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Duke University. Over the past 25 years he has exhibited his prints nationally and internationally and has taught at many institutions across the United States including UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Greensboro, Pratt Institute and Rutgers University. Fick’s work can be found in the collections of the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University; The New York Public Library and the Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers University. In 1993 Fick was awarded a NEA Visual Artist Fellowship and in 1995 a NCAC Artist Fellowship. He has exhibited at Greenhill numerous times, most recently in 2013’s ANIMATED! exhibition.

INTRO TO STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING WHAT AM I BIDDING ON? Learn to Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) with the wonderful staff at Get:Outdoors. Take 2 two-hour classes (can be redeemed as a pair or as two individual classes). These classes are designed for the paddler with no SUP experience, or the beginner who is interested in learning basic SUP paddling techniques and safety skills. WHAT AM I BIDDING ON? Greensboro now boasts four craft breweries, with two more on the way. Take an insider tour of the city's breweries with craft beer writer Eric Ginsburg. Learn about their stories, what makes them different and where they are headed, and possibly hear from a spokesperson from the breweries. You and up to three friends will meet at an agreed upon starting point and Eric will provide transportation (so you and your guests can freely try different beers). There are no organized tours of breweries in the area — this will be the first semi-legitimate one to occur.

ABOUT ERIC Eric Ginsburg is the associate editor at Triad City Beat newspaper and the co-owner of Beat Media Inc. He writes the weekly Barstool column, all about booze in the Triad. He is one of the most knowledgeable people about the local craft beer scene, covering it more heavily and more in depth than any other journalist. Few people know Greensboro's breweries —past, present and future — as well as he does.

In her free time, Lauren enjoys DIY projects, cooking, laughing with friends, and going on adventures around Greensboro and beyond with her family - husband Miles, 10-month old son Davis, Harley her dog and Gatsby the cat.

Doug is a native of Chattanooga, TN and is married to Joan Womble Stone, with whom he shares three daughters. He received both his BA and MBA from the University of Virginia. Doug is active community volunteer through many organizations, and some of his interests include spending time with his family, fishing, and cycling.

Get ready for a truly delicious evening as you and seven guests enjoy a menu to include four courses of seasonally inspired anitpasti, primi, secondi and dolce along with wine pairings.

ABOUT ADELINE Adeline has degrees in painting and in design. For four years in the early 2000’s, she owned and operated Pain Ordinaire, a small artisanal bread bakery. She then was the founding director of the Public Art Endowment at the Community Foundation here in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was a sales gallery manager, a lower school art teacher, a cooking class instructor and a few other things, the list is long...but, you get the picture. All roads seem to have inevitably led to this-Studio Traveler and small-group, cultural and culinary travel expert.

CONDITIONS The class and meal will take place in Adeline’s Fisher Park home at a mutually agreeable date and time before June 18, 2016.

ABOUT MELISSA + ADAM Melissa and Adam Tarleton are onceaspiring poets who met in Fred Chappell’s workshop in the MFA Writing Program at UNCG. These days, Melissa sells vintage furniture and Adam is a tax lawyer, and they drink their cocktails in the Westerwood neighborhood.

Enjoy a 1 hour photo shoot with photographer Toni Tronu in a Greensboro location of your choice. After the photoshoot receive 5 edited pictures on a CD or USB drive as well as any additional shots you want. If you are doing headshots feel free to do a shirt change.

ABOUT TONI Toni Tronu is Greenhill's Shop Manager + Registrar but what you probably don't know about her is that she is also an amazing professional photographer and the lead singer of a rock band called Elemeno. She moved to Greensboro in 2011 with three of her friends and has never looked back!

The key to the best consignment shopping experience is go to somewhere else‌ so let’s take a trip over to the Raleigh/Durham area to find that perfect statement dress or great items to compliment your wardrobe. We will do a little shopping, stop for lunch, and meander back to Greensboro in time for the evening cocktail hour.

ABOUT LAURA Since 2009, Laura has been leading Greenhill as its Executive Director. She loves it here because we do such great things and there are just so many opportunities to dress up! When one works in the arts, eclectic attire is not only encouraged, it is expected. This makes consignment shopping a MUST, and Laura is good at it. Always involved in something in the community, Laura loves to contribute, and she is still working on her secret aspirationto become a style icon.
