IN T R OD U C T I O N Welcome to Greenhill 2015. The Greenhill team has put together programs over the next six months and beyond that we intended to engage, energize and surprise you. Some are new, such as our adult education in ArtQuest, to what we do best; present the best of North Carolina art. A few words about our happenings: ArtQuest revisited. We started using this theme last year but it still holds up. We have introduced new programing, revamped existing programing and refreshed the space. Aside from fun workshops such as Clay Rattles, I am really excited about CoffeeTime. Led by our arts educator, Laura Maruzzella, you can drop in every Wednesday to have a creative break—whether it is 15 minutes or 2 hours, this time you make for yourself has such restorative benefits. Laura is a trained art therapist and she plans activities that are easy to jump into but force us to use those sometimes underused muscles—creativity, imagination, and those that allow you smile. Whether you are sitting at a desk all day, are a busy parent, or someone who has worked hard and is now enjoying retirement, taking time to socialize and create something fun is invigorating. InFocus Gallery is a new endeavor, focused on showing great NC art that you may want to have in your home or office. This gallery is geared towards people who not only enjoy art but want to purchase art. You can be a seasoned art collector or rank beginner—we can help you find the perfect work that speaks to you as an individual and enhances the love and comfort you are trying to create in your home or set the environment you want to convey in your office. The Gallery programs for the next six months will take you on a journey. From seeing what artists see in themselves through self-portraits, to building an in-situ space composed of coffee stir sticks and sleeves, walking into our exhibition space will be unexpected. There is something for all audiences and we are pleased to present it to you. I look forward to seeing you soon. Take care, Laura Executive Director and Huge Greenhill Fan.

IN CO N C LU S IO N It seems like just yesterday that I joined the Greenhill staff as Director of Programs. With every day comes the realization of what Greenhill offers and exciting possibilities for future programming. Greenhill does have it all: A jewel of an exhibition space, The Gallery, now complemented by InFocus Gallery, The Shop, and ArtQuest, Greenhill’s innovative educational space. Our exceptional resources and dedicated staff provide a strong framework around which to build programming, but, we recognize that our best resources are our visitors and artists; the people who participate to make Greenhill vibrant and relevant. In this spirit we are continuously working to tailor programs with you in mind. We build programming that engages the full Greenhill experience providing activities that deepen understandings of NC art through artists’ talks, group visits, adult workshops and Masterpiece Fridays while encouraging you to make connections between what you see and art processes in the ArtQuest studios. In keeping with our mission, in addition to exhibiting the work of NC artists, we provide opportunities for artists to teach workshops at Greenhill and in schools through our Artist in the Schools program, to talk about their work at artist talks and share their art with other artists through the Open NC Art Review. We also know that our strength as an arts institution is dependent upon the impact we can make on the community beyond the doors of Greenhill believing that the experiences we offer should make a difference in people’s lives. Thanks to strong community partnerships and generous donors Greenhill provides access to ArtQuest and The Gallery for children enrolled in Title I Schools, Head Start, and Greensboro’s Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. Additionally, parents and children benefit from free Family Nights on Wednesday Nights from 5-7 and through a partnership with Guilford Child Development, Greenhill offers Learning ART Together, a program which helps immigrant and refugee women create an art or craft they can sell, exhibit and/or share while their children have full access to ArtQuest’s hands-on studios. Finally, while many programs are represented in the catalog I encourage you to visit our website at greenhillnc.org to get a full sense of our many programs and find one that is perfect for you. Lynn Sanders-Bustle Ph. D, Director of Programs
