Renter-Friendly DIY Wall Sconce Tutorial

Hey there, it's Karisa from Petite Modern Life. A blog that covers home remodeling, DIY projects, and sweet photography. I hope you'll stop by and check it out! Today I'm sharing an easy DIY Wall Sconce that is totally apartment friendly and uses the simplest of materials.

Materials:

1 – Plywood Sheet 12″ x .25″ x 24″ (Joann Fabrics) 1 – Craft Wood Tissue Box (Joann Fabrics) 1 – Corded Light (shown: Ikea SEKUND corded light) 1 – 3/4″ x 24″ copper pipe 2 – 3/4″ 90 degree copper elbows 2- 3/4″ copper fasteners 8 – 1″ screws (I used what I had on hand) 2 – 2.5″ nails Wood Glue

Tools:

Hack Saw or Pipe Cutter Miter Saw Drill Ruler Pen

1 – Cut your plywood sheet in half.

2. Leaving about 1.5″ of wood on either side, cut out the middle of just one side out of your tissue box.

3. Glue your two pieces of plywood together with wood glue and hold them together with a heavy object (that's what you're looking at above!) or clamps over night to dry. This is to add some

thickness to the backing of your sconce.

4. Using your hack saw or pipe cutter, cut your pipe to your desired length. I cute mine to about 14″. Simply put the elbows together on top of the pipe.

5. Position your tissue box centered on the plywood and mark it on both sides.

6. Screw the tissue box to the plywood sheet from the back.

7. Follow THIS tutorial for how to dissemble and reassemble your corded light so it can go through your pipe.

8. Position your fasteners just above and just below the tissue box and screw down.

9. Drill two small holes, big enough for your nails to fit through in the top two corners of the

plywood. Nail your sconce to the wall using the holes.

You're done!

This easy DIY wall sconce is the perfect addition to my nursery! I bet you could find a perfect place for it in your home as well. It's also completely ready to be painted if you're looking for a splash of

color in your room. Personally, I like the natural pine look. It matches the rest of my decor theme in this modern nursery. For the full nursery reveal and resources click here! Thanks for reading and DIYing with me!
