This 10-Acre Hudson Valley Property is Absolutely Idyllic

by Lisa Levin

We're just a little biased toward life in New York's Hudson Valley, not just because Elizabeth, our founder, lives there! Just up the river from New York City, this is one of the prettiest places in America, and Lisa is ready to take you on a tour of the area's most incredible old houses.

I absolutely love historic homes, but often, my favorite part of a historic home is the property on which it is set. The house can tell a great story, but the property completes the picture. With ten gorgeous acres included in this fantastic Woodstock, New York property, I would happily get lost among its ancient trees and lush surroundings! Country retreat indeed! With porches and terraces just perfect for lazing around, this c.1800 farmhouse property on historic Cooper Lake Road radiates simple elegance.

Before venturing inside, I'm instantly drawn to the c.1700s stone smoke house sitting by the pool‌ what a perfect repurposing of this classic stone building! Each piece of this pristine property is delightful, from a fountain and koi pond guarded by a stone lion to a relaxing brick patio beneath a stunning pergola to the original barn. And let's not forget about the perennial gardens, open fields and mountain views! Crossing over the “rocking chair front porch,â€? amidst all of the tasteful updates, the home still features rooms with original blown glass windows and wide plank floors are evident throughout. And how great it is that the kitchen cabinets are hand-made using wood from trees that once grew on the property! Located just minutes from the center of Woodstock, this property is the perfect spot from which you can explore all of the music, arts, culture, history and outdoor recreation that this charming town has to offer.
