DIY: An Architect-Inspired Thanksgiving Table from Designer David Stark

This Thanksgiving, NYC event designer David Stark and team are seeing squares everywhere-in homewares (and clothing)-which inspired them to create a minimal, modern take on fall entertaining.

Photography by Corrie Hogg of David Stark Design for Remodelista.

Above: That's not a tablecloth-it's a Quaderna Table by Italian design house Zanotta, designed in 1970 and made of white laminate with a screen-printed grid. The bistro chairs are David's own, but he suggests similar versions at Serena & Lily.

Above: Frosted Light Water Glasses, made in Italy by Ichendorf, are $32 each at Barneys New York. (For a similar shape without the frost, try CB2's Marta Barware old-fashioned glasses; $1.95 each.) The Henry Dean hurricane lanterns are from Bloom in Sag Harbor, New York.

Above: A trio of dinner plates includes Sarah Lavoine's handmade Radis Dinner Plate (black with white rim) and Jasmin Dinner Plate (white with white rim); $40 each at Barneys. The third style is the porcelain Abbesses Plate with Black Rim from Canvas Home; $22 each.

Above: The blue plate is by ceramic artist Paula Greif. The Astier de Villatte Flatware is available at John Derian, and the wood-handled steak knives are from Laguiole.

Above: For an informal centerpiece, David's team mixed precise grids with fall foliage. Squares of chicken wire draped on top of cylindrical glass vases hold individual stems in place.

Above: White/Black Check Linen Napkins are made in France by Linge Particulier, from one of our favorite sources: Lost & Found Shop in LA; $20 each.
