DIY Painted Patterned Pegboard

Space is something that we could all use a little bit more of, however finding that extra space can sometimes be difficult. Depending on what space you're working with and your specific needs for that space can make organizing a bit of a challenge. On top of that, if you want to buy a pretty organizer/space saver, you are most likely going to be spending some money. A good solution to this problem is a simple 12 inch by 12-inch pegboard!

A pegboard is a great option in this case because it can be hung on the wall and be configured to your liking. With that being said, pegboards can be pretty plain and boring in terms of actual dĂŠcor pieces. So today, I'm going to show you how to update a plain white pegboard by painting on a simple pattern. Now the pattern I decided to go with for this project was a Dalmatian pattern. However, you could paint on any pattern that floats your crafty boat. This DIY is really here is inspire you to get organized, save money, and to have a little DIY fun in the process!

Supplies: Pegboard Pegboard hooks

Paint Paintbrush Toothpicks (optional /not pictured)

Step 1: Start painting the bigger pieces of your pattern by using a paintbrush. To get the Dalmatian look, paint random blobs in black all over your pegboard. Once you're happy with the look, set your pegboard aside to dry.

Step 2: Go back and start painting the smaller details with either your paintbrush or a toothpick. In this case, go back with a toothpick and add small black dots/ blobs in the background. When you're completely done, set your pegboard aside to dry.

Step 3: Grab another color of paint and paint all four edges of your pegboard. Then set the whole thing aside to dry. Once your pegboard is completely dry, you're ready to hang it!

The painted patterned and the pop of color around the edges definitely makes this plan pegboard much more exciting! With that being said, if you still don't feel comfortable hand painting a pattern onto your pegboard that is ok! You could always use a stencil or stamp set in your favorite pattern, instead of hand painting it yourself. If you painted your own pegboard, what colors or patterns would you choose to paint?
