Patricia Jordan, Director of Deli, Bakery, and Cheese

If you say “feast,” I’ll be there. If you say “Mediterranean feast,” well, that’s even better! Our chefs can help you create a most memorable affair. If you want to plan a summer evening that stirs the imagination and sparks joy, then impress with a great big feast of foods from the Mediterranean and beyond.

Mezze

Serve this first course on individual small plates, and it’s best to use the pita bread for dishing up your bites. Place Za’atar, a wonderful spice mix, in a small bowl. After you dip pita bread in labna with olive oil, dip it into the Za’atar. Yum!

If you want to go super easy for the mezze portion of your feast, we o er a sumptuous party-ready Mediterranean Board that you can order right at our deli.

Set the scene for your dinner with Mediterranean or Middle Eastern music—there is so much available to stream! Bring in brightly colored pillows and cushions. And candles—especially Moroccan style votives—are a plus! Make this feast a summer sensory adventure and a night to remember.

The Entrée

The main event is best served family style.

Basmati rice with toasted almonds

Grilled Vegetables

Lamb Kofta or skewers

Lemons (for squeezing over your main dishes)

Parsley (finely chopped and sprinkled over the chicken and lamb) Roasted Chicken

Don’t Forget Dessert

I also enjoy serving tea or a nice port with dessert.

Seed + Mill Halva: Available in Pistachio, Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, and a new addition to Mollie Stone’s—Raspberry! Fresh seasonal fruits of your choice: I recommend apricots, grapes, melons, and figs.

Medjool Dates and Walnuts

The Drinks

Pair your evening with the perfect party elixirs. To start, try a Fresh Mint Lemonade. With the entrée, serve your favorite rosé or a Spanish wine. Most Spanish wines pair very well with these Mediterranean flavors.

The Food

You can get everything you need at your local Mollie Stone’s to easily pull this off. If you want to make some of your own dishes, pick up a cookbook. If not, here is a shopping list and you can pick your favorites. Be sure to try something you have never had before. That’s a must for any adventurous spirit.

Fresh Mint Lemonade

MAKES 4 SERVINGS

½ cup sugar

1½ cups water

1 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed from 4 or 5 large lemons)

½ cup mint leaves (relatively well packed, around 60 leaves)

2 cups ice cubes

Mix all ingredients in a pitcher and enjoy.

Note:

This also works great as a gin cocktail: Add 3 ounces gin per serving, and stir.
