The State Normal School for Women was the fourth iteration of the school which would eventually become Longwood University. Spanning the years from 1916 to 1924, substantive changes accompanied this change in name. During this period of time, the number of faculty increased significantly, academic offerings expanded, and the school’s teacher training program grew.
