Counselors In Training (CIT)

Are you a young adult seeking more out of the summer camp experience? Do you want to serve as a positive role model and assume more responsibility?

Our CIT program is designed to offer qualified young people an opportunity to prepare for a position as a camp counselor in a job-like setting. Emphasis is placed upon developing leadership skills, essential life skills, and decision-making and problem solving skills by assisting with daily activities and camper care. CITs will rotate camps and will be assigned with different counselors on a weekly basis.

Registration must be done through Erin Swisher, Youth Programming & Activities Coordinator. Interested individuals can contact Erin at 317.883.8066 or swishere@greenwood.in.gov. Interviews for CITs will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis from the time enrollment opens. CIT spots are limited.

CRITERIA FOR THE CIT PROGRAMS:

- Applicants must have been a participant of a Greenwood Parks & Recreation summer camp.

- Applicants must possess an interest in recreational youth development and in working with campers ages 6 - 12.

- CITs must bring energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to all aspects of the training program and commit to the entire summer camp.
