The journey toward knowing, toward the goal of an objective truth, is reflected in the practice of making the drawings in this collection. The idea that deeper insight is worthwhile, that growth along the path to understanding is of value, comes into practice in the scrutiny of found objects.
Scattered through the renderings in this portfolio, telling themes emerge repeatedly: Butterflies,the Enlightenment’s symbols of transformation and elevation, flutter by. Books, worn but useful, speak with the voices of insight that are no quieter for the passage of time. Shells, building upon themselves with a practice that is as steady as it is ancient, resolve before us in their purposeful,perpetual revolution. – Jon Mort
