Launching November 1, the featured wines will be available by-the-glass in over 65 restaurants and wine bars. Offered in a rare, double Magnum size, the wines capture the artistry and depth of various Bordeaux appellations from many perspectives, including family-owned châteaux and relative newcomers. This is the Biggest Bottle promotion to date from Bordeaux’s Next Gen winemakers. What is a “Big” Bottle? A -Liter or Double Magnum Bottle holds four standard bottles of wine. A rarity in production due to cost, large format bottles are better suited to prolonged aging due to the smaller surface-to-air ratio between the wine and the bottom of the cork. Yasmina Asseily describes her family’s journey into wine as totally accidental. The daughter of winemaker Youmna Asseily, her family fell in love with Château Biac, and it has become her life’s work. For Yasmina, wine is “a living thing,” all about adaptability, sensitivity, lateral thinking and reaction. She finds that women often bring versatility and an ability to look at things from different angles, when each harvest brings new expectations and questions about the future.
"I never miss a Football match!” Château Biac strives to nurture the vines, always raising the bar to communicate the personality of the terroir and to preserve nature for generations to come. As Bordeaux adapts to the forces of climate change and market demand, vision is needed to maintain tradition while also moving forward with new ideas. Yasmina brings new insight to the family’s expertise in the industry and embraces this spirit of constant evolution; her family comes from a Mediterranean background and she has learned to bridge many cultural traditions, including the beauty of Lebanese family recipes paired with Bordeaux. Yasmina loves large formats in wine which spur joy, comradery and sharing; in her opinion, “the more the merrier” is a philosophy to embrace.

MATTHIEU ARROYO, Winemaker CHÂTEAU D'ARCHE | A.O.C. Bordeaux Blanc, Sauternes
Matthieu Arroyo 's career in winemaking began with a desire to merge his interests in chemistry, nature, and wine. He traveled to New Zealand in the spring of 2008 to learn more. "I principally learned English and brought another view about a new wine culture," he recalls of his time abroad. Matthieu has a positive outlook on his peers in winemaking. "This generation brings a global view of the world," he says. "We are aware of the economy and climate issues in Bordeaux, but also all over the world." He sees the need for a new version of Sauternes wines, and is encouraged by the large format wines that Château d'Arche produces. "The wine provides less oxygen with bigger content, which means the drinkability is better and the conservation is lasting," he says.
"When I’m not at the Château, you can find me fishing for our dinner!” Château d'Arche is ISO14001 certified since 2011, and will be certified organic in 2024. The winery is innovative in other ways as well, one of which is using a wineglobe, which is a glass barrel. "This could provide less sulfites in our Sauternes," says Matthieu. "We are looking forward to see the results." Matthieu's favorite food and wine pairings are Sauternes with Ris de Veau (calf sweetbread), and white dry wine with oysters. His passion for Château d'Arche's wines is evident. "Sauternes isn't just wine! It is an experience," he says. "You will discover the gold of Bordeaux."

Marketing manager Ducourt family winery | A.O.C. Bordeaux Jonathan Ducourt recounts his early days learning the wine trade at his family's estate. "I started early as a ‘winery child’ could, first in bottling and in the vineyards during school holidays, and later at the winery. It has always been in my head that I'd work in the wine industry." Jonathan has honed his craft in Napa Valley, Tuscany and New Zealand, and naturally, Bordeaux. These experiences shaped his decision to enter the merchandising end of the wine industry. "What I learned the most was that these wineries were much better organized than we were for sales and marketing, so when I came back to Bordeaux, I decided to change careers and help develop those areas at our family's winery, promoting our château and our brands around the world," he says.
”When I am not working, I am running!” Jonathan is enthusiastic about the variety of wines his family winery offers. From the historical Chateau des Combes, they developed other estates over time. All our whites and rosés are vegan," he says. "We also have a sulfite-free cuvée and some cuvées that are produced from 60 to 70 year old vines, too. We did not make big changes to our wines, but our range has been diversified with more styles of wines." Jonathan adds that Ducourt's wines offer a fresh take on Bordeaux. "There is a global trend for more fresh and fruity wines, which we fully support in our style," he says.
“
As a wine grower, we have to think longer term than just a few years. The biggest challenge to find the grape varieties and final blends that will be Bordeaux in the next decade or two. We also have to grow with the minimum impact on the environment and especially minimum treatments."

Pauline Lapierre can trace her passion for winemaking back to her formative years. "I grew up in a winery but was a good student," she says. "I was encouraged to study finance and business administration at HEC Paris. Then, I worked in the water industry with Evian, and realized after a while wine could not be only a memory or a hobby. I really wanted to work in that industry and be a winemaker. I passed the degree of oenologist in Montpelier and came back to Bordeaux to work."
Pauline sees a bright future for wine with the current crop of young winemakers. "The environment is in our DNA, and is included in our approach (to winemaking)," she says. "And most of us have varied backgrounds and lives, overall a less conventional approach to wine." Château Haut-Rian is Bee Friendly, Terra Vitis and HVE-certified. "Half of the vineyard is managed organically," Pauline shares with pride.
"I am always ready to explore!” Pauline describes the château's wines as "balanced, that is to say rich, but not overwhelming; fruitful but fresh; tannic but soft; if they could speak, they would say, try me!"

AUGUSTIN ALLO-ARMAND, Winemaker CHÂTEAU LA RAME | A.O.C. Bordeaux, Bordeaux Blanc
Augustin Allo-Armand has always wanted to work at his family winery. As a student Augustin pursued a business degree and spent his summers working in the vineyards. He gained valuable work experience working for the Syndicat of Bordeaux and the Constance Hotel Group, a global organization with properties in the Île Maurice, Seychelles, Maldives and Madagascar. “Wine has been my passion for a long time!” he shares. Augustin feels lucky to be part of an ultra-connected generation and sees global sommeliers and influencers as a force for positive communications and sharing in the wine world. “My goal is to surprise consumers with the approachability of Bordeaux wines by style and pricing, which for many is still a new concept. It’s a breath of fresh air to offer so many options, starting with stylish packaging that matches our quality approach.” He’s also a fan of large formats and is excited that New York wine lovers will get to try his wine from big bottles that “invite discovery, celebration and sharing.”
“Besides winemaking, Rugby’s my game!” Certified sustainable (HVE Level 3), Château La Rame is considering a shift to all-organic, but proudly embraces tradition. For Augustin: “We have so much to work with at the winery, starting with ideal soils and exposure. Our wines showcase our timeless style as a family of independent growers who have worked for generations. Our signature is simple: fresh fruit, minerality, equilibrium all create harmony in our wines.” In the end, this aspiring young winemaker appreciates simplicity and authenticity. “I love the southwest of France, playing rugby and the simple pleasure of a great glass of wine.”

I turned 20 in 2018, and it’s still one of my most memorable vintages! It was a great year to make wine, and to participate in delivering beautiful bottles of Bordeaux to the world, and also a reminder that climate really matters. Climate change is the biggest challenge we face.”

Madeleine Hostache is passionate about her work at Vignobles de Larose (Château Larose Trintaudon). Her commitment to the wine industry stems from her love of two things, good cuisine and visiting new places. "I've been a food lover since I was child, and sharing a good meal was inherent to my family's culture," she says. "I have also always been interested in traveling. Therefore, when I had to do an internship in 2013, it was logical to mix those two aspects. That is how I went to Vancouver to work for a wine import company."
Vignobles de Larose has four different estates under the company's umbrella: Château Larose-Trintaudon; Domaine Perganson; Château Arnauld, and Château Tour de Pez. These estates produce large format wines, which Madeleine finds beneficial for a variety of reasons. "A bigger format is more suitable for aging, as that allows better oxygenation and there's a smaller risk of any deviation," she says. "Consequently, as we produce wines for aging, this is perfect. Plus, opening a big bottle always makes it more festive!"
"I love making French Pastry!” Madeleine points out that the preservation of the land on the estates is of particular importance. This includes having beehives in the vineyards to aid in pollination, and a renovation plan which will involve solar panels and water recycling, among other practices. "So, step by step, we are adding more sustainability in our approach," Madeleine says.

Since the protection of the environment is one of our priorities, for many years now we have been certified on different levels. We also embrace constructive actions to reduce our carbon footprint such as lighter-weight bottles and cases."

Bérangère Tesseron grew up at Chateau Larrivaux and always knew she wanted to remain in the wine industry. During her college years, she studied Vineyard and Wine Law and returned to the Château in 2005, where she runs the vineyard alongside her mother and her aunt. Chateau Larrivaux has uniquely honed the vine with a touch of femininity since its inception in 1580: to date, the chateau has been exclusively owned and operated by the women in the family. Care for the land is demonstrable at Larrivaux: “although the estate covers 80 hectares, only 20ha are dedicated to viticulture. The rest is comprised of woods, meadows, forests, and fields; biodiversity is at the forefront for us. We also have 9 beehives that work wonderfully!”
"I am a big foodie!” Chateau Larrivaux has been HVE3-certified since 2019 but Bérangère and her team are “always looking to push the limits.” They don't use herbicides, insecticides, or anti-rot treatments. “We treat as little as possible, and never at the recommended dose- always below. The Château is also fortunate to have help from the many resident bats who live on the quarries of the property and hunt pests,” Bérangère says. The result? Refined, harmonious wine that is pleasant to drink young with great aging capacity. Reflecting on the 3L big bottles she has just sent to New York, Bérangère quotes Winston Churchill famous saying, "A magnum is the perfect size for two gentlemen, especially if one of them isn't drinking! “Imagine the double magnum,” Bérangère muses. That's only 2 magnums!” In short: more than enough to please everyone.

Camille Giai has always been drawn to the wine world. Originally from the Rhône Valley, he pursued a degree in viticulture, and has always embraced the multifaceted aspect of wine, its ties to culture, terroir, luxury and the environment, and its ability to be a product for both everyday enjoyment and life’s big moments. Camille oversees marketing and sales at Château Roquefort, where he is charged with finding a “new approach,” seeking a range of fresh, modern styles that range from proprietary parcel selection to fruit and spice-forward flavor profiles. He is thrilled with the prospect of getting new consumers excited about Bordeaux, appealing to their emerging palates, while also introducing them to the region’s wealth of terroir, expertise, and talent.
”BESIDES THE WINE WORLD, I love photography!” Camille believes that the next decade will be one of change and innovation for Bordeaux, marked by technical innovation; the emergence of enotourism; and experimentation with new varieties and approaches that place a high emphasis on environmental diligence. Certified sustainable (HVE 3) and currently converting to organic planting, Château Roquefort borders a natural preserve with protected plant and vegetable species. Camille believes like many in Bordeaux that environment starts in the vineyard, producing “less not more,” and providing opportunities for young generations to come back and work the land. It’s an ambitious vision, and along the way Camille finds inspiration in the global consumer, trade and media community, remembering with fondness the year he spent in New York promoting French wine. The future is full of promise, but Camille also appreciates Bordeaux’s timeless nature: “Imagine, we just unearthed a magnificent 30 million-year-old fossil bed in our white wine vineyard!”

Pauline Dufour started her career in the wine industry working as a sales manager for a large exporter of Bordeaux wines, but quickly decided her expertise would be best suited working alongside her sister at their family vineyard, Château Simon. A self-proclaimed globetrotter, Pauline encountered opportunities to learn winemaking outside of her family’s scope, which gave her new perspectives: “I worked 5 months in an organic vineyard in California, which opened my mind to new techniques,” Pauline says. Her worldly experience means her day-to-day at the vineyard is “conducted with thoughtfulness and respect for the human and environmental impact of the business, while protecting nature and reducing the winery’s carbon footprint.”
MY SISTER AND I SHARE EVERYTHING INCLUDING WINEMAKING RESPONSIBILITIES!” Pauline is adamant that “Sauternes is not just a dessert wine! It can be a cocktail wine, too, or enjoyed as an aperitif with spicy foods, chicken, strong cheeses or even oysters.” She loves everything about the region where she grew up, but her favorite time of year is when “the sunrise hits the dewy vines during springtime, it feels like nature is waking up slowly, it’s beautiful.” Since she began working with her sister in 2015 (to date, still her favorite vintage), she’s committed herself to sharing the beauty of Sauternes with the world. “It’s a wine of depth and contrast; consumers are able to rediscover this ancestral wine and really enjoy the diversity of the aromas and freshness.”

Erika Smatana is a native of Bratislava, Slovakia. Her path to the wine industry is an interesting one, starting from the age of 10 when her family emigrated to Canada through Vienna, Austria. "We arrived in Toronto in 1981 and became naturalized citizens," she says. "I moved to New York City to complete a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting. Afterward, I became a true New Yorker and spent 20 plus years living there." After completing wine studies with several accredited societies, wine became her passion. Erika traveled to Bordeaux in September 2020 to fulfill a dream and work harvest with Famille Barton in Saint-Julien, Château Langoa-Barton, and Château Léoville-Barton.
"I am an artist!” Erika has found much to admire in Bordeaux. "There is incredible value for quality in Bordeaux from Petit Château to Grand Cru Classé wines in a diversity of styles," she says. "Clarendelle is made by the same winemaking team as Château Haut-Brion offering an approachable, high quality wine for incredible value." All of Clarence Dillon Wines’ partners follow a sustainable approach, some organically and some biodynamically. Erika considers Bordeaux region more sustainably engaged in France, a fact that, “creates wonderful equilibrium in our region." She looks forward to a future where Bordeaux wines go back to basics, with a modern twist: "I am excited about the return to tradition, handmade vineyard management and winemaking methods with updated, stateof-the-art equipment that mimics its origins."

Geoffrey Ribeiro has been steeped in the art of winemaking from an early age. His family's winery dates back 13 generations and, as he tells it, he was involved in its marketing of sorts from the age of 10. "My parents and grandparents received a lot of American visitors at the winery during the weekends and I had my job too! I was selling some magnets and corkscrews from our vineyard with my sister. They are great souvenirs!" Geoffrey went on to study winemaking, and then joined his family to work at Château du Moulin Rouge. He considers himself fortunate to be part of such a long legacy. "As Château du Moulin Rouge is a family property, we can all benefit from the network of each other and the previous generations. It is a considerable advantage to have such a solid team!" he enthuses.
"I love wine!” Château du Moulin Rouge is certified sustainable (HVE Level 3), the highest environmental level. "We have done the groundwork for more than 15 years now and continue to invest in equipment that respects the environment," he says. Geoffrey is excited about the new styles of wine emerging throughout Bordeaux. Château du Moulin Rouge, for example, produces a vegan wine. "Let's see what the next decade inspires us to do!" Geoffrey enthuses.

Guillaume Gonfrier grew up on his family's vineyards, so naturally he gravitated to work in the world of wine. "I really decided to pursue this career while I was doing an internship in New York, where I realized the uniqueness of wine and its power to gather people together," he says. Guillaume is the newest member of the Vignobles Gonfrier business, and at 28 years old, he’s providing his father and uncle with new perspectives on climate change and the world of wine. The vineyards are HVE and Terra Vitis-certified and we have been pioneering organic viticulture since the beginning of the 2000’s and can now offer a wide range of organic/NOP certified wines." Guillaume says.
Having traveled extensively as the Sales Manager for Vignobles Gonfrier, Guillaume has had the unique opportunity to interact with consumers across the globe. He has a strong understanding of what buyers are looking for in Gonfrier wines, and continues to work alongside his family in tandem with the terroir. Guillaume's favorite aspect of being in the wine industry is "having wines every day with family and friends." He’s also a fan of the classics. One of his favorite food pairings is a beef stew accompanied by a Bordeaux red.
