A poor response to marine pollution will cost more than money. An opportunity was identified for ORCA to be in position to assist and support agencies through the provision of suitably trained personnel. ORCA therefore employs highly skilled and experienced personnel capable of providing maintenance services, spill response training and response capabilities on a contract basis to meet the specific needs of clients.

ORCA is now the largest private provider of contract spill response training and oil pollution equipment maintenance services in Australia. The company is based in Victoria and has expanded its training and maintenance services to the point where it now has an Australian-wide client base and also provides services to overseas clientele. We also have a Warehouse in Adelaide, an office in Darwin and registered in Papua New Guinea which allows us greater coverage in Australian/Pacific waters.

Our Team ORCA’s staff are from many diverse backgrounds and have extensive experience in oil spill response, planning and management. ORCA has a certificate of compliance with Australian Standard AS/NZS 4801 Occupational Health and Safety Systems. ORCA is a member of ASTM International and has voting rights on their F20 committee. The F20 committee has jurisdiction over more than 20 standards relating to the manufacture and use of oil spill response products. The F20 committee develops and reviews these standards.

Our passion for research & development Our experience in the use of oil spill response equipment and the awareness of the possible shortcomings that can occur enable us to refine and upgrade systems. Our R&D program is aimed at developing modifications to improve the performance of this equipment.

Some of these modifications may be as simple as changing hydraulic couplings or starting batteries to more reliable types. Other modifications may be to replace pumps and/or engines and the reconfiguration of hydraulic circuits. ORCA has also developed a range of response equipment suitable for use in harbours and marinas.

Our services ORCA’s staff are extremely qualified & experienced and can offer expert service in the following. • OIL SPILL RESPONSE. ORCA can provide competent responders with experience ranging from oil spill commanders down to team members. •
MAINTENANCE. ORCA has contracts with private companies, Commonwealth and State agencies for the maintenance of oil response equipment.

TRAINING. ORCA provides training courses to the Government and Industry. Training is focused on owned or leased equipment for use at a spill site that they may need to operate.

• ASSESSMENTS. ORCA can conduct audits, inspections and assessments of response equipment and provide written reports of the findings. ORCA has recently completed an inspection and assessment of all the Australian Marine Safety Authorities’ oil spill response equipment in Australia. • RISK ANALYSIS. ORCA’s staff have extensive experienced in oil spill risk analysis at port facilities in Australia and overseas. • CONTINGENCY PLANS. ORCA’s staff have prepared contingency plans for both government and industry. • SPECIfICATION DRAfTING AND TENDER ASSESSMENT. Orca’s specification drafts have been used by government agencies and international organisations.

Leasing and Sale of Oil Pollution Equipment. ORCA is able to source equipment to fit your requirements plus we also have a leasing program. A Tier 1 Spill Kit/s can be delivered and maintained by us. By doing this you are ready for a response and know that your equipment is well maintained and ready for use at a moments notice. We also train your staff as a first strike team for any response that may be required and can back them up if required.
