Interior Designer
Being a design student at The Design Institute, I have experience with several design programs such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, Lumion, Revit, and Adobe products such as InDesign. Along side my computer skills I know how to pick out materials for projects while applying color theory. I am also proficient in space planning, hand drafting, and quick sketching.
Hi there! My name is Gretchen Stillman and I am an interior designer who recently graduated from the Design Institute of San Diego. I am eager to work with design professionals to hone the skills that I have learned, and to continue learning from experts in the design field.

Client Profile
The goal of this project is to create a warm and cozy atmosphere for this young cou ple while remaining ADA friendly for when Luke’s mother comes to visit them.
06
Elain and Luke Thompson are a couple in their mid 30’s who have recently moved to the small town of Whitefish, Montana. While Luke is a ranger at Glacier National park, Elain runs a used bookstore in the commercial space below their residence. The couples love of travel has lead them to a very eclec tic, warm, and earthy design style. Luke’s mother, Vanessa, often visits them for a large part of the year and requires her own room. Vanessa also needs her accommodations to be ADA compliant. She tends to have a more feminine style than them so the couple worries that they are going to have to compromise on what they want.

Concept Goal
This wellness center’s goal is to help these people learn to love themselves with their conditions and help treat them to improve their mental and physical health. The center also strives to be as env iornmentally friendly as possible.
Many people struggle from conditions such as eating disorders, skin conditions, and overall body image. Tulane University is located a mere 5 miles away from this center. This wellness center will give sanctuary for a large percentage of people that deal with these problems on a day to day basis. Illinois State says, “Research shows that 80 to 90 percent of women and around 70 to 80 percent of men report unhappiness with their bodies, with cases height ened within the college demographic, and this increase in later years can be tied to media usage.” The three main recourses available will be dermatolo gists, dietitians, and psychiatrists.

This project was a team effort to rennovate the Kitchen’s For Good Shop in Pacific Beach, CA. The management didn’t have any artistic vision for the space. The only requirements were that it had to have a commercial kitchen, retail area, office area, and dining experience. My main roles in this project were, creating the sketchup model, rendering the model, assisting in creating presentations and boards, and dividing up tasks amoung other team members.
