Zambora Smokey ($2.30F) finished fifth, 6.56L from the winner. Catch The Thief notched his second age-restricted feature, having won the G2 WA Derby. It was also his 15th win from 25 starts and his ninth win from his past 12 starts.

He spotted the fourtime Group 1 winner around 5L down the back straight before claiming him 50m from home in 29.61sec. Yindi Girl Turbo ($27.70) finished third, 2.39L from the winner. Weblec Ace notched his 15th win from 36 starts. It was also the G2 McKenna Memorial finalist’s fifth win from 13 starts over 515m at Sandown.

He strolled to an effortless 3.99L win over Sunset Bourbski ($3.80), with Tornado Tears ($7.60) a further 0.72L away third in 42.45sec. Sandown’s 715m track record holder registered his 15th win from 42 starts. It was also his fourth win from nine outings over Sandown’s staying journey.

But the race changed complexion when Fire Legend and Catch The Thief ‘brushed’ approaching the circle. Subsequently, Taken swept to the lead and held off Arizona Eyes ($26.70) by 2.36L, with Manila Knight ($10.70) a further 1.2L away third in 30.11sec (Best). Catch The Thief ($2.00F) finished an unlucky seventh, only 5.8L from the winner. Taken, who finished fourth to Catch The Thief in the G3 Warragul St Leger, notched his 14th from 39 starts.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. Victorian Bred and Trained greyhounds only. 2. For Greyhounds with 1-5 wins (Maidens Ineligible). 3. Greyhounds must have been domiciled in Victoria for 90 days or more prior to the close of nominations. Greyhounds that have commenced racing under 90 days must only have been domiciled in a Victorian kennel. 4. A greyhound must not be under any order of prohibition under the rules of Greyhound Racing Victoria at the time of nomination that will not allow it to compete at The Meadows, for the 2020 TAB Great Chase semi-finals and grand final. 5. Each greyhound is only eligible to compete in one series of heats. 6. The heats are open to the best greyhounds nominated plus reserves and will be capped at the number of greyhounds progressing to the semi-finals. 7. The number of greyhounds progressing to the semi-finals differs at each track. 4 greyhounds plus 1 reserve will progress from: Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Horsham, Sandown Park, Shepparton and Warrnambool. 5 greyhounds plus 1 reserve will progress from: Sale, Cranbourne, and Warragul. 5 greyhounds plus 2 reserve will progress from: The Meadows. There will be a ‘ballot’ for the reserve positions. Eligibility to compete in Semi Finals subject to GRV Rule LR33. Greyhounds under any order of prohibition at the close of nominations for the semi-finals will not be drawn into the fields. 8. The Winners and the fastest second placegetters from the 6 semifinals will progress to the Grand Final. 9. Upon entering this event, trainers will make themselves and their greyhound/s available for any reasonable promotional opportunities relating to this event at Greyhound Racing Victoria’s request. This may include visiting community groups at their facility as well as media and photo opportunities as they arise. 10. Greyhound Racing Victoria reserves the right to alter and amend conditions and prize money for The 2020 TAB Great Chase. Digital radio station RSN Carnival is pleased to announce the additionof dedicated greyhound racing radio coverage of all three meetings nationally every Saturday until at least mid-September.Saturday Morning Greyhounds, hosted by Riley Phelan, GeorgeFarrugia and regular contributions from the TAB team, is providing extensive and detailed coverage for all greyhound racing fans. With exclusive analysis from RSN’s leading greyhound expert George Farrugia for all meetings, plus the latest markets from the TAB, listeners will receive a comprehensive analysis of every race before and after it happens. RSN Program Director Adam White said: “With the addition of RSN’s Saturday Morning Greyhounds, I’m so pleased we can enhance greyhound racing’s new Saturday morning initiative. Our commitment is to give the greyhound industry and our RSN audience that additional detailed coverage for one of our key racing partners with a stand-alone product.” “There will be a focus on the Victorian meeting, but we’ll cover each meeting around the country.
