INTRODUCTION

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(6) industry association working to develop the market for green roof and wall systems in North America through education, advocacy, professional development and celebrations of excellence. Our education program reflects our commitment to providing leading-edge professional development opportunities that support of our members’ efforts to integrate living architecture into the built environment. The Green Roof Professional (GRP) training program is widely recognized as North America’s most comprehensive reference for individuals who market, design, install and maintain green roofs. Comprised of three full-day courses, this program serves as the recommended course of study for individuals preparing for accreditation as a GRP. Our half-day courses focus on specialized topics like rooftop agriculture, green walls, and integrated design, and complement GRP training by providing continuing education opportunities for industry professionals. The Integrated Water Management Training Series, developed in cooperation with the American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC), addresses an increasingly important national and international issue: the imbalance between demand for fresh water and existing water supply. These courses provide detailed information on the design and deployment of water management systems for buildings and sites based on the Net Zero Water concept. All of the courses in GRHC’s education program were developed by multi-disciplinary committees of subject matter experts drawn from fields such as civil and structural engineering, architecture, horticulture, roofing and waterproofing, and landscape architecture. They are approved for continuing education credits by a variety of associations, including AIA CES, LA CES and USGBC. See the Continuing Education Credits section of this guide for more information. We encourage you to enhance your knowledge of living architecture systems and improve your professional practice by attending GRHC courses. Visit www.greenroofs.org/education for course dates and locations.
