ASHLEIGH EARDLEY GRAPHIC DESIGN
OVERVIEW OF THE SEMESTER Integral elements: Are there integral elements that often form key elements within your work – in other words how do you best generate and create your own designs/imagery? I feel that the key elements within my work are often through my use of typography and colour. I rely quite heavily on these elements as I like to generate work which is clean and unfussy. The typographic elements are often the main focus and I prefer to have a limited colour palatte of usually a maximim of 3/4 colours in order for my work to have a professional finish. Success: What are your strengths? Where have you been most successful? What do you think was the reason for that positive experience? I feel that my strengths lie within editorial, branding and digital design, which is why I have focused mainly on these areas on design this semester. I feel that my confidence in my own abailities has grown a lot as a result of this and I now have a more positive outlook for my future within the industy.
Personality: What are you interested in, what are you about? Do you feel you have been able to introduce your personality and interests in your work. In what creative direction do you want to proceed in the future? I am interested in all aspects of design and I regularly look at a variety of different work online and in magazines, however, my main interests are desinitely in typography, branding and editorial design. I feel, because a lot of my work this semester has been self-directed I have been able to introduce a bit more of my personality into my work and it has given me a clearer idea of what to focus on now in order to gain experience within certain companies which I feel would really suit me and my own style, in particular that of Freight & KVGD in Glasgow and also The Chase in Manchester. In the future I would love to work within those types of studios as I feel I would thrive in this kind of environment working mainly on branding and editorial work.
