For me, emphasis on analogue design is integral. My work is most lively and innovative when I spend the majority of the time working with pen and paper. In all my work do I try to incorporate aspects I have am familiar with as well as new techniques. Pattern, detail and balance between black and white are all very important to me. I am most successful when setting my own projects and working on several simultaneously. Whilst doing this, I like to have a heriarchy of importance, so prefer one or two longer projects and some much shorter ones. I feel my work this semester showcases my personality better than any other. I believe setting my own projects is the main reason for this. I intend to proceed with more comic work developing the world and characters I have started to create as well as working on projects with a sense of humour (like Kung Foodles and my animation Akrilla The Hungry).

Akrilla The Hungry
Due to adult themes, my comic’s target audience is anybody from 16 upwards. It is aimed at comic fans, but also those more interested in graphic novels or narrative illustration.
I invented the character of Akrilla The Hungry - a warmongering shrimp who never manages to find food. I tasked myself with creating a humourous animation to go with it.
I set my own brief to create a short graphic novel, doing all writing, designing and illustration myself.
It is aimed at anyone with a sense of humour and access to the internet. I made it to be like a pilot for a online mini-series.
Epoch magazine
The Wind In The Willows
Epoch is a cheap, ecofriendly magazine focussing on geology, prehistory and alike. It is aimed at armchair hobbyists.
For the Puffin Books competition, I redesigned the Wind In The Willows bookcover. I went for a traditional watercolour style, hoping adults will reminisce and purchase the book for their children.
Kung Foodles noodles Branding and packaging designs for a health-food noodle brand that proclaims to increase kung fu ability. For anyone wanting healthy food on a budget with a sense of fun.
