Cantilevered Shops
Intervening Typologies | Semester 3 Mentors : Anuj Daga and Pratyusha Suryakant The main intent of the structure was to create a major separation between the contrating tulsi baug and ram mandir and bring in the activeness which was seen overall in the surrounding market. The stair running in between the two walls connect each and every shop and allows one to access from anywhere. The shops going underground halfway and its roof becoming a sitting or resting space for people around was one of design strategies playing with the plinth.
Kitchen Gardens
What is a Clinic? | Semester 4 Mentors : Rupali Gupte and Samir Raut The idea of health of women in this self built settlement named Bhim Nagar was seen with having a clean space and healthy food to have. This observation lead to the idea of kitchen gardens. The origin of the form was from the idea of levels, extensions and connectivity which were observed on the site which consisted of a huge stepped retaining wall.
The major programme evolved was a maternity home for the people living on that hiiled self built settlement. The site where maternity home and community area was redesigned was wholly uplifted on the first floor to keep the space porous and not obstruct the regular activity which used to take place.

What is an Interpretative Centre? | Semester 6 Mentor: Malak Singh Gill
The distinct separation created on the land of Hiranandani(suburb in Mumbai) which was for middle class people, was one of the reasons to create such humble space where everyone is welcomed and included. Inclusion of all kind of species through which the space created gives something back to the community was the idea. Fluidity was achieved in the form by breaking the monotony which was seen in Hiranadani created by the rigid blocks. Including programmes like a Welfare Centre could help in bring people together for a better cause. This could be achieved by various parts of the welfare centre such as providing a clinic and a gym for a better health. Then seeing the major disconnect of the lake, a centre where people could do something for the lake or even exchange knowledge about the biodiversity of lake which many people are not aware of. An exhibition could be setup on the promenade itself as a display library for the people to know about the biodiversity of the lake. A part of the welfare centre is also for the deaf and mute, where people across the ward could come and exchange their learnings. Also the staff of the restaurant across could teach many others various techniques. Enabling Spaces are spilled over the whole ground floor where for example gardeners could set up nurseries.
