The Journey of Grizzly

Grizzly was born out of love. It might sound cliché, but I mean it. A love for the mountains and moving within them is the core of the GRIZZLY.SKI brand. You know how well-worn tourist trails lead to popular spots? But you’re drawn to carve your own path. That’s the second core value: following your own way. I don’t have to tell you that it comes with a lot more adventure.

From the start, it was crucial for us to create independently from established processes. We embraced total freedom in how we approached things. Personal experience in competitions and the desire to create something new and innovative were key. Every time Jozef, the binding‘s designer, sat down to design, he thought about how to make it easier for people to access the mountains and experience the beauty of snow-covered nature. In this sense, “easier” has two meanings: the product had to be light in weight and easy to use.

Jozef was pleasantly surprised when he placed the result of several years of development on the scale. The binding weighed an unbelievable 45 grams. And so, in 2017, a completely new platform for the world’s lightest binding was born, with the added benefit of simplicity in use. A significant portion of the weight was saved thanks to a new clamping concept, which we now call GRIZZLY FIX. We also have it patented.

To give Grizzly‘s journey an official framework, Grizzly became a member of the ISMF manufacturer pool in 2019.

Then came the challenge of entering the market. Grizzly‘s visibility was boosted when we made it to the finals at ISPO BRANDNEW in 2019. We felt great at the Munich exhibition and were always happy to return. It was always heartening to come home with an award, which motivated us to keep working. We also brought back valuable new contacts from around the world, with whom we still collaborate today.

The ski mountaineering community is made up of remarkable people. I believe that we’re all connected by this love for the mountains. You see it at races or any ski mountaineering events. One major event is coming up: the Olympics. We’re excited for it and believe Grizzly will be well-represented.

Why ?

What best describes products?

Because we have our own development. How else can you achieve flexibility in processing customer feedback and requests?

Because we do it for the most demanding.

We don‘t expect our customers to tolerate half-baked solutions.

Because our focus was ease of use.

Don’t waste time in the mountains struggling with gear. It’s there for you, not the other way around.

Bonus: We support young talents. Do you know someone who dreams of using the best equipment and has the potential and talent? Let us know!

Safety

We don‘t even discuss it. That comes first.

Durability

If it can’t withstand the conditions you take it into, send it back to us immediately. We’ll refund the full amount.

Functionality

Clamping speed in 1.5 seconds. A myth? Not at all! Just practice.

Lightness

Many manufacturers dream of offering the world’s lightest binding. But we actually have it. Ready to meet your toughest expectations.

From the beginning, we created binding models based on customer requirements. Bindings with a release system, bindings with brakes, bindings with adapter options for crampons, and so on. The names of the bindings were based on their weights. We’re proud that our bindings are the lightest in the world in each category. However, the individual names didn’t fully capture all the features for ski mountaineers. That’s why we simplified and clarified the offer, so every GRIZZLY.SKI user can choose the model that best suits their needs

We’ve prepared two ultra-light platforms for you, GR 48 and GR OLYMPIC. We wish you a safe and passionate ride!

Tomáš Petreček (CZ)

“I only go to the mountains with ‘teammates’ I can count on. And Grizzly is definitely one of them.”

The Lightest Binding in the World

The GR 48 platform is built on the lightest binding in the world, and that DNA carries through its entire range of features. Whether you‘re looking for uniqueness, performance, quality, innovation, or safety, you’ll find it all in the GR 48 platform.

Markus Kröll (AT)

“My clear choice is the GR 48 + BRAKE and SAFE HEEL. Yes, I had concerns at first. But they disappeared after the first tests in serious terrain. Today, I fully trust this binding. Great job, Grizzly!”

Tereza Rudolfová (CZ)

“I’ve bought GRIZZLY bindings more than once. I train with them. I race with them. I take them on expeditions. Clean design, simple handing, reliaility. And as a bonus, they look amazing H”

Who is this platform for? For those who helped us create it. Athletes, coaches, and our fans. Technical specialists, who have been selling and installing bindings for years, also lent their expertise.

The patented GRIZZLY FIX toe piece is an innovation that enabled achieving a revolutionary low weight while retaining essential functions and allowed the brake to be positioned at the toe.

Did you know that aluminum is flexible? This excellent property allowed us to harness its full potential without adding additional mechanisms to the binding.

If you‘re an ultralight enthusiast, racer, or dedicated mountain explorer heading to the mountains weekly or more often, you‘ll appreciate the ease of the GR 48 platform.

Roger Schäli (CH)

“I do not compromise when choosing equipment. The mountains have taught me that every gram of weight saved counts.”

Majo Srník (CA)

“In Canada, we ride wider skis. And lightweight bindings are simply a must. They make the descent easy, and as for the ascent—well, it’s so effortless, I can’t even put it into words.”

The Most Awarded Binding in the World

The GR OLYMPIC platform was developed with a similar goal as the GR 48: to create a high-performing and easy-to-use binding. But this one is for a broader sport audience. Over its existence, this platform has received perhaps the most awards in the history of pintech bindings.

The patented GRIZZLY FIX system allows the brake to be used at the toe of the binding, making it much easier to handle. Interestingly, the brake also locks the toe for ascents. Another advantage of having the brake at the toe is that it doesn’t interfere when you attach your skis to your backpack.

Is safety your top priority? Do you value touring features like the second climbing riser position or the flat position? Is it also important to you that the binding performs well and looks great? You’ll find all of this in the GR OLYMPIC platform. As a bonus, this binding offers the lowest weight and highest reliability in its class.

The Journey of Grizzly Continues

I am passionate about developing and testing new solutions. My goal is to bring innovative and functional designs with a unique style. Interesting ideas often arise from open communication with customers That’s why staying in touch with you is so important to us.

So if you have an idea to improve an existing solution or a suggestion for something completely new that hasn‘t been done before, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

How can we make movement in the mountains easier while experiencing the beauty of nature?

How can we enjoy training or competitions without worrying about the reliability of the equipment?

How can we make it all look good?

These are the questions I ask myself when creating new solutions or improving existing ones.
