LEARN/PLAY Grounds For Sculpture offers a diversity of experiences in the arts. Accessibility Grounds For Sculpture is a leader in designing its facilities and programs to serve persons with disabilities. Special vehicles are available to assist those with mobility impairment. Advance reservations recommended. The Museum Building, fully accessible on the first floor, has a specially designed “Patron Guide” for artwork on the mezzanine. The Domestic Arts Building, Welcome Center, and the Seward Johnson Center for the Arts are fully accessible. Large print editions of information and brochures are also available at the Welcome Center.

We offer free walk-in tours April through October, pending docent availability, and Touch Tours for persons with visual impairments. For those with mobility impairments, tram tours are available Tuesday - Sunday from 11am -3pm on a first-come, first-served basis or by appointment by calling: 609-586-0616, x. 224. Self-guided touring is encouraged and aided both by site maps and brochures, available in the Welcome Center. School groups receive discounted student admission and free guided tours. At its core are more than 270 sculptures by renowned and emerging contemporary artists, each thoughtfully positioned on meticulously landscaped parkland full of thousands of exotic trees and flowers. The works, many of them monumental, include those of such distinguished artists as Clement Meadmore, Anthony Caro, Beverly Pepper, Kiki Smith, George Segal, Magdalena Abakanowicz, and Isaac Witkin.They join the enchanting works of our visionary founder Seward Johnson as well as many others by the finest up and coming artists of our time. Seward Johnson conceived of and opened the not-for-profit Grounds For Sculpture in 1992 with a mission to promote an understanding and appreciation of contemporary sculpture, deeply rooted in the conviction that art belongs in the lives of everyone. Grounds For Sculpture fulfills that mission in multiple ways. The journey through Grounds For Sculpture can be largely self-directed, requires no prior art education and progressively leads visitors to appreciate more challenging work.
GFS offers dining options for every occasion and wallet, Tuesday through Sunday year-round. Rat’s Restaurant Serving delicious country French cuisine, and open for lunch, dinner, and Sunday Brunch. Reservations recommended. 609-584-7800. Van Gogh Café (located in the Welcome Center) A French-inspired café and bakery where you can enjoy pastries, lattés and more. The Peacock Café (located in the Domestic Arts Building) Stop in for freshly made soups, sandwiches, salads, and beverages, including beer and wine. The Gazebo (located by the Lotus Pond) Grab light snacks and refreshments plus ice cream and beverages. Open weekends, weather-permitting, May through November.
