EXHIBITIONS Joyce J. Scott: Harriet Tubman and Other Truths

Through April 1, 2018 In her most comprehensive exhibition to date, artist Joyce J. Scott weaves narratives with brightly colored tiny glass seed beads, sleekly sensuous and luxurious Murano glass, and fanciful found objects. Her subject matter is topical and often unsettling, powerfully presenting images dealing with racism, classism, slavery, and misogyny. Due to her deft use of seductive materials and her intrinsic wit, her art conveys a deep reverence for the human spirit, for familial lines, and for the inherent spirituality of people and things. Guest co-curated by Lowery Stokes Sims and Patterson Sims. Location: Domestic Arts Building

Daniel Clayman: Radiant Landscape

Through February 25, 2018 The Museum Building serves as the armature for two site-specific interior glass installations by sculptor Daniel Clayman, representing the first time that the Museum Building is essential to the invention of an artist’s concept. Hundreds of glass tiles hand-strung together create transparent three-dimensional color fields. Outdoors, three of Clayman’s glass boulders are on view. Location: Museum Building

Elyn Zimmerman: Sensitive Chaos

through January 7, 2018 Since 2000, Elyn Zimmerman has built an extensive and ongoing exploratory body of works on paper. On display in Sensitive Chaos, these works capture subtle plays of light, shadow, and color in an overarching and thoughtful control of the beautiful chaos of nature. Location: West Gallery

Location: East Gallery

That’s Worth Celebrating: The Life and Work of the Johnson Family

Currently On View This exhibition will focus on the Johnson family’s passions, their belief in the spirit of innovation and the power of community, and how the founder’s vision for The Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture shaped Grounds For Sculpture’s early years. Curated by Lynn DeClemente Losavio, Collection Manager of The Seward Johnson Atelier. Location: Cecelia Joyce and Seward Johnson Gallery
