The Typewriter Project

May 6 – September 28, 2017 Nestled in the garden, discover a booth calling for your creative input. It is outfitted with a vintage typewriter, paper scroll, and a kit that allows participants’ keystrokes to be collected and shared online. Created by The Poetry Society of New York.

EXHIBITIONS Daniel Clayman: Radiant Landscape

May 7, 2017 – February 25, 2018 The Museum building will become the armature for two site-specific interior glass installations by sculptor Daniel Clayman, representing the first time that the Museum itself is essential to the invention of an artist’s concept. Hundreds of glass tiles strung together will create transparent three-dimensional color fields. Outdoors, three of Clayman’s glass boulders will be on view. Location: Museum Building

Grounds For Sculpture: 25 Years

May 7 – September 17, 2017 In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we’re honoring the people, spaces, and things that make Grounds For Sculpture unique. Through never before seen images, insider tales, and hands-on interactives, learn more about the collections, the evolution of the grounds, and the people who have contributed to its success. Location: Domestic Arts Building

Elyn Zimmerman: Sensitive Chaos

through January 7, 2018 Since 2000, Elyn Zimmerman has built an extensive and ongoing exploratory body of works on paper. On display in Sensitive Chaos, these works capture subtle plays of light, shadow, and color in an overarching and thoughtful control of the beautiful chaos of nature. Location: West Gallery

Elyn Zimmerman: wind, water, stone

through January 7, 2018 Artist Elyn Zimmerman’s most comprehensive exhibition to date documenting 40 years of her prolific career in sculpture, juxtaposed with her black and white photographs of the many places she has visited that have provided inspiration for her threedimensional works. That’s Worth Celebrating: The Life and Work of the Johnson Family

Opens May 7, 2017 This exhibition will focus on the Johnson family’s passions, their belief in the spirit of innovation and the power of community, and how the founder’s vision for The Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture shaped Grounds For Sculpture’s early years. Curated by Lynn DeClemente Losavio, Collection Manager of The Seward Johnson Atelier. Location: Cecelia Joyce and Seward Johnson Gallery

Community Takeover: Light and Color

June 24 – July 23, 2017 An installation made entirely by GFS visitors. Location: Education Gallery

A Year of Art with ARC Mercer

August 19 – October 1, 2017 Celebrating the creativity of artists with special needs. Location: Education Gallery
