EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT: ACTION DAYS When it comes to practical challenges we recognise that corporate partners have different interests, ideas and requirements. Whether you’re looking for a one-off team building day or a longer term programme of activities, we’re confident we can offer you a partnership that’s aligned to your needs and that directly benefits local communities in London. Initially, one of our Corporate Partnerships Team will have a conversation with you to establish exactly what you want to get out of the activities. Then we’ll match you with a Groundwork project that best meets your needs and will benefit most from a day of volunteering. Last year over 800 corporate volunteers have helped us to transform over 30 open spaces in London; including primary schools, community gardens, allotments, nature reserves, adventure playgrounds, parks and even a Victorian cemetery. After agreeing a project match with you, you’ll liaise with one of our experienced corporate volunteer co-ordinators who will lead on the organisation and delivery of the event/s and provide you with a detailed event plan for each day’s activity.
The experience for your employees will be both challenging and fun and they’ll be directly benefitting communities in London through transforming open spaces. Our two practical challenge packages are indicative of the level of service we provide and our fees for one-off practical challenge days. For more than one day of activity, economies of scale will allow for reduction in the fee per day. For longer term partnerships involving practical challenges our fees will be agreed at the outset depending on the number and scale of activities. Our fees cover the internal cost of organising and promoting the activities, the materials and transport required and, in the case of the Digger package, a short film and a few other extras, to help you promote your partnership with us and showcase your employee's achievements.

“It was so well organised and such a great project to work on; a perfect blueprint for future Time Warner impact days” Time Warner, London
“I had a great time sprucing up Nunhead Cemetery and it felt great to do something positive for the local community. It was also fantastic to meet so. many people from different parts of the business. Everybody was so energetic and hard-working and it was really impressive how much got done. I'm definitely going to volunteer for more of these days." Fran Wetzel, News UK
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT: SKILLS BASED We also welcome skills-based volunteering, whereby your employees share their professional expertise with us to support and strengthen our projects, programmes and internal operations. As professional mentors, your employees will strengthen their own skills and competencies, developing leadership and management skills and gaining both personal and professional satisfaction from the mentoring process. These opportunities exist both within Groundwork London and within the communities we work in. Your employees could mentor young people or social enterprise start-ups, supporting and inspiring people to reach their full potential. If you have an idea, we’re happy to develop a bespoke skills-based partnership opportunity for you, just as we did with our hugely successful Enterprising East initiative. This innovative partnership saw business mentors from Barclays, CBS Outdoor, Crossrail and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer matched with four schools in East London. Employees from each business supported teams of
students to develop an idea to attract young people into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Over a number of weeks, employees shared their business expertise with teams of young people: one team was lucky enough to benefit from a business masterclass with James Caan. The mentoring sessions culminated in a ‘Dragons Den’ style event which saw each team of young people pitch their idea to the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and a number of influential business mentors including Montash's CEO.
“Enterprising East provided each of us with a great opportunity to enhance our mentoring skills and it was extremely rewarding for each of us to watch the pupils’ ideas grow.” Tom Crawford, Trainee Solicitor and Enterprising East Mentor, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
