CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS
TAKE A FRESH LOOK AT WORKING WITH GROUNDWORK
INTRODUCING GROUNDWORK G
roundwork is one of the UK’s leading environmental and regeneration charities. For over 30 years we’ve been at the forefront of environmental and social regeneration in the North East & Cumbria; changing places and lives for the better, in some of our most disadvantaged neighbourhoods. In today’s challenging social and economic climate the work we do has never been more important; creating better places, improving people’s economic prospects and helping people to live and work in a more sustainable way. In order to achieve the ambitious goals we’ve set ourselves, we know that we need to work with innovative like-minded corporate partners who share our vision that each and every community in the North East & Cumbria can be vibrant, sustainable and prosperous. Our holistic approach allows corporate partners the choice to support those activities that are most aligned to their own priorities and passions. We offer a range of partnership opportunities including practical employee engagement activities, bespoke skills-based volunteering and broader programme sponsorship.

Alternatively if you would prefer your internal Marketing or PR team to take the lead on promotion of the partnership we’ll work closely with them to facilitate this.
“Groundwork staff were really good at assisting and advising me to do the lighter jobs as they instantly realised I couldn’t do a lot of the manual labour. They were very attentive in making sure I was ok offering all of us water." Sage CSR participant

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT PRACTICAL CHALLENGES When it comes to practical challenges we recognise that corporate partners have different interests, ideas and requirements. Whether you’re looking for a oneoff team building day or a longer term programme of activities, we’re confident we can offer you a partnership that’s aligned to your needs and that directly benefits local communities in the North East & Cumbria. Initially, one of our Corporate Partnerships Team will
have a conversation with you to establish exactly what you want to get out of the activities. Then we’ll match you with a Groundwork project that best meets your needs and will benefit most from your engagement. After agreeing a project match with you, you’ll liaise with one of our experienced corporate volunteer co-ordinators who will lead on the organisation and delivery of the events and provide you with a detailed event plan for each day’s activity. The experience for your employees will be both challenging and fun and they’ll be directly benefitting communities in the North East and Cumbria through transforming open spaces.
Our two practical challenge packages are indicative of the level of services we provide and our fees for one-off practical challenge days. For more than one day of activity, economies of scale will allow for reduction in the fee per day. For longer term partnerships involving practical challenges our fees will be agreed at the outset depending on the number and scale of activities. Our fees cover the internal cost of organising and promoting the activities and some materials required (some projects may require additional materials, cost to be negotiated). In the case of the larger package a short film will be produced by our Media Partner(s), to promote your partnership with us both internally and externally.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SKILLS BASED We also welcome skills-based volunteering, whereby your employees share their professional expertise with us to support and strengthen our projects, programmes and internal operations. As professional mentors your employees will strengthen their own skills and competencies, developing leadership and management skills and gaining both personal and professional satisfaction from the mentoring process. These opportunities exist both within Groundwork and within the communities we work in. Your employees could mentor young people or social enterprise start-ups, supporting and inspiring people to reach their full potential. We have been lucky enough to work with Nickie Gott, Managing Director of She’s Gott It! Events. Nickie worked with us to help develop our marketing expertise before becoming a member of the Groundwork NE & Cumbria Board of Directors. Nickie supported the trust by acting as a mentor to support corporate events including the highly successful 2014 Staff Conference and AGM event as well as supporting the development of a social media audit.
Another example of professional support came from the input and support of Bill Oldfield. Bill has been in the hospitality trade for many years and owns and manages Oldfields restaurant. Bill worked with us in supporting the process of appointing the appropriate catering staff for our Greenhouse facility. We are very keen to work with companies on ways in which skills from your work force can enhance how we do business and how skills learnt by individuals can in turn enhance your business. If you have an idea we’re happy to develop a bespoke skills-based partnership opportunity for you.
"Nickie was a great support in helping me to look at the bigger picture of PR communications". Sophie Wade,

"Bill's expertise was invaluable in the interviews". Kate Culverhouse,

The Nike volunteers were enthusiastic, hard working and we all had a great day. We are also looking forward to sending the volunteers pictures of the garden as it develops so they can see how much their help has benefited the project. We are very grateful Nike decided to choose us for its corporate volunteering day.” Claire Hutchinson,
Senior Project Officer, Groundwork NE & Cumbria
