GTLC is BACK in Session Hello Church! Did you miss us this summer? Well me missed you! Praise God for another school year here at GUMC! Improvements, not only for GTLC, but also for

the good of the church: •Nursery and quad room have been painted. •Carpets have been replaced with plank flooring in the quad room. •Intercoms and shelter door lock equipment has been installed. •40 cubic yards of mulch was laid in the playground.

Needless to say, getting ready for a new school year can be so

ex-

hausting mentally and physically! The one thing I do know, is that it is all worth it when those babies run into your arms the first week of school! Their embrace tells me, it was all

worth it! Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, ”Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Rebecca Goossens GTLC Director

Your Missions Team met in August and welcomed guest speaker Amber Moore. Amber is a former intern for Amy Howell who is now embarking on an adventure with Makarios Ministry. Makarios means blessed in Greek and seeks to be a blessing in the communities they serve. Their mission statement is: Love. Educate. Empower. Makarios works with both Haitians and Dominicans in extreme poverty to provide Christ-centered education and outreach programs so they might have hope for the future. Amber’s role will be the Sponsorship Coordinator as well as assisting with mission trip teams. She is committed to working there three years. Each staff member has to raise their own salary. Missions Team donated $1200 to help fund her mission. Amber intends to keep us informed by email and perhaps later on with a personal visit. Learn more about Makarios at http://www.makariosinternational.org/. The Missions Team also donated $1800 to Church By The River. These funds are to help pay for food and supplies. Please accompany us the last Saturday of the month as we join in fellowship and worship with our friends by the river. If you have ideas to share with your Missions Team, join us the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm in Steve’s Pantry or contact Pastor Aaron at aaron@grueneumc.org or Sarah Krull at srkrull4@gmail.com. We’d love to hear from you.

OCTOBER 14th-20th Have you been looking for a way for you and your family to get involved with GUMC? Family Promise may be the answer! The mission of Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels is to support, guide, and lift families out of homelessness and into safe housing, gainful employment, and independence. Local churches (including GUMC!) host these families a few times a year for a week. We provide beds, showers, and meals while these families get back on their feet. Ways to get involved

include helping with set-up/tear-down, bringing a meal, or helping to stock the fridge for the week that they are here. The next week that GUMC will host is October 14th - 20th. If you would like to help (or get on the Family Promise email list for later dates that we host), please send an email to gumcfamilypromise@gmail.com, or call/ text Kristi Morris at 719-310-2292.

Blessing of the Backpacks We received more than 160 backpacks from folks in the church! THANK YOU!

We gave them to Steve's Pantry, Connections, and Communities in Schools. These great organizations will distribute them to kids who need backpacks!

Motherload...a ministry for Moms All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you. A cunning, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you-your emotions, your mind, your family, your future. But his reign stops right here, right now. With you.The enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. A woman who is armed and dangerous. This Bible study is more than just a biblical description of the believer's inventory. It is an action plan for putting on your armor and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory against the enemy. Yes. A strategy. Join us Wednesday evenings at 7 P.M. in the nursery classrooms. Childcare is available. Email Jennifer at gumcmotherload@yahoo.com if you are interested.
