La comunidad internacional CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK se presenta por segunda vez más unida que nunca por el proyecto colectivo destinado a promover la joyería contemporánea y una valiente forma de entender la joya en su vertiente más investigadora y creativa. La edición 2012-13 de este catálogo impreso se hace realidad tras el arranque del proyecto el pasado año y el éxito obtenido en su presentación. Las más actuales y diversas facetas de expresión creativa de la joyería contemporánea se dan cita en estas páginas en las que vuelven a participar más de un centenar de artistas procedentes de 27 países. Un verdadero laboratorio de creatividad al abasto de galerías, museos, fundaciones, sector joyero profesional, ferias y lectores de todo el mundo gracias al apoyo editorial de Grupo Duplex. El ANUARIO DE JOYERÍA CONTEMPORÁNEA ya está aquí de nuevo en formato bilingüe, inglés y español, y siempre avalado por la experiencia de Grupo Duplex, editor a su vez de la revista decana Arte y Joya.

The international community participating in the CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK presents itself for the second time more united than ever through this collective project aimed at promoting contemporary jewellery and a bold way of understanding jewellery in its more investigative and creative facet. The 2012-2013 edition of this printed catalogue is coming to fruition after the launch of the project last year and the success of its presentation.

The most up-to-the-minute and diverse facets of creative expression in contemporary jewellery are brought together on these pages, in which more than 100 artists from 27 countries are once again participating, yielding a veritable laboratory of creativity available to galleries, museums, foundations, the professional jewellery sector, fairs and readers all over the world thanks to the editorial support of Grupo Duplex. The CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK is back in a bilingual English and Spanish version, and it is once again endorsed by the experience of Grupo Duplex, which also publishes the magazine that is the doyen of the jewellery world, Arte y Joya.

ADEGUIMAR ARANTES Adeguimar estudió diseño e historia de la joyería, en el Centro de Gemologia de Goiás. Se ha inspirado en su padre. Ha conseguido el Top 100 Brazilian Artisans Award y el Emprendedor del Año 2006. Participó en ferias de joyería como: More Milán - Brazil Oggi - Milan, Sofa - New York y Collect Brazilian Jewellery.

Adeguimar studied jewellery history and design at Centro de Gemologia de Goiás. She was inspired by her father. AGNIESZKA KIERSZTAN Estudió escultura en Polonia, pero es en Italia donde trabaja en el campo del arte, enfocándose en la joyería. ALINE KOKINOPOULOS Mi trabajo gira entorno a la naturaleza, una transformación de flores, semillas, animales en joyas. Observo, dibujo, hago un “Herbarium” de mi colección y después, trabajo con láminas de plata que corto, moldeo y sueldo. Me gusta que la gente observe mi trabajo y consiga identificar las flores.

My work is around the nature, a translation of flowers, seeds, animals in jewels. I observe, I draw, I make a “Herbarium” of my collection; then I work with sheets of silver, that I cut, I mould and I sold. I like when people stay a long time looking my work and success to recognize the flowers.

ANDREA MELISSA ARIAS Los lápices de colores eran mi juguete favorito de niña. Mi trabajo comenzó desarmando los lápices para armarlos en formas totalmente diferentes y transformarlos en un nuevo material preservando su función. Mezclas de colores y marcas de corte de segueta en las nuevas formas resultantes revelan recuerdos de mi infancia.

The crayons were my favourite toy as a child.

My work began by disarming pencils to arm them again in totally different ways and transform them into a new material to preserve its function and history. The mixtures of colours and cut marks in new forms reveal memories of my childhood.

Inspirada en el medio urbano, añade a sus creaciones materiales reciclados como vidrio que talla, da forma y graba. Her work is ranging from jewellery sculptures, to impossible and unknown structures. Inspired by the urban environment, she introduces into his creations, recycled materials such as glass that she cuts, sizes or engraves. “Process” es la principal inspiración de Cedric Chevalley a quin le encanta jugar con el universo físico para crear una nueva estética. “Blowning es importante para mí debido a que fui soplador de vidrio en los inicios de mi carrera”.

DANIELLE VROEMEN Danielle Vroemen estudió diseño de joyería en la Academia de BBAA de Maastricht, se graduó en 2009. A principios de 2010 acabó su primera colección de joyas en plata: “Geom”, inspirada en figuras geométricas, que permanece como fuente de inspiración. EINA AHLUWALIA Tradicionalmente, un Kirpan es una pequeña espada que se lleva como un símbolo religioso de los Sikhs. Se utiliza para combatir la violencia contra los oprimidos, indefensos y débiles.

Aquí el Kirpan se oculta en un collar de boda convencional hindú; es un símbolo de protección contra la violencia doméstica.

Traditionally, a Kirpan is a small sword worn on the body as a religious symbol for the Sikhs.

It was used to stop violence against the oppressed, defenceless and weak. Here the Kirpan is hidden into a conventionally ornate Indian wedding neckpiece, and is a symbolic reminder to protect oneself against domestic violence.

Del 12 al 15 de octubre, en la preciosa Sala Comillas de las Drassanes de Barcelona, tendrá lugar la segunda edición de Espaijoia, Jewelry Mediterranean Meeting. Más allá del clásico concepto de feria, es un espacio reservado a los profesionales del sector en el que, a lo largo de cuatro días, la exposición y el business son los protagonistas.

No hay otra feria como INHORGENTA MUNICH, con su fuerte apoyo a la innovación. Prueba de ello es el pabellón C2 destinado al “Diseño Contemporáneo”. La feria ofrece a los jóvenes diseñadores una plataforma única y libertad creativa de exposición ante una audiencia internacional de profesionales del sector. La feria no sólo cubre todo el ámbito del sector, sino que también permite que los visitantes experimenten el desarrollo de las tendencias de primera mano. Ello forma parte del desarrollo continuo y exitoso de INHORGENTA MUNICH.

There is no other trade fair quite like INHORGENTA MUNICH, with a high level of endorsement of innovations, such as with the help of the INHORGENTA MUNICH “Contemporary Design” in hall C2. It offers young designers a unique platform and creative freedom for extraordinary exposure to an international audience of professionals. The trade fair not only covers the industry’s entire bandwidth, it also allows visitors to experience the development of trends first-hand. This is in part a result of the continuing, successful development of INHORGENTA MUNICH. In 2012 1,134 exhibitors from 37 countries came to Munich and presented their products and services on a net exhibit space of 33,350 square meters.

This represents a 4.9 % growth in exhibit space compared to the prior year’s event. With around 30,000 trade visitors from 80 countries this “Trade Show for Jewelry and Watches” has once again underlined its importance for the international market. Around one third of the total number of trade visitors came from outside Germany.

Estas cifras representan un crecimiento en el espacio expositivo del 4,9 por ciento en comparación con la edición del pasado año. Una tercera parte de los profesionales del sector que acuden a la feria provienen del extranjero.

La sala C2, “Diseño Contemporáneo”, se centra en la joyería de diseño innovadora, además de en la de plata y nuevas generaciones. Un buen número de exposiciones especiales ofrecen a los diseñadores una plataforma ideal para mostrar y ver nuevos conceptos y creaciones inusuales, y brindan el ambiente perfecto para presentar este género tan especial dentro de la joyería. Otro espacio destacado es Brand New – New Brand (Totalmente Nueva – Nueva Marca), la plataforma para diseñadores jóvenes y novatos, además de Forum Silversmiths, que invita a los entusiastas del diseño a descubrir creaciones exquisitas de plata.

It is a pleasure to see how the bonds created in the CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK community are only getting stronger and stronger.
