PRESENTACIÓN PRESENTATION

Cuatro años de intenso trabajo, pero llenos de ilusión, han quedado atrás para dejar en vuestras manos la quinta edición del Anuario de Joyería Contemporánea. Cuatro años al lado de los artistas, de los galeristas… a vuestro lado. Y vosotros al nuestro. El proceso creativo es complicado. Crear es realizar un viaje a lo imaginario y volver para expresar ese mundo de sueños. Desde aquí queremos acompañaros y ayudaros a dar a conocer las obras de arte que surgen de ese proceso. Escuchamos vuestras necesidades e intentamos investigar e indagar en el mejor modo de avanzar en este proyecto. Nos alienta el compartir vuestras emociones, vuestras vivencias, en definitiva, vuestro mundo. En cada edición nuevos artistas se unen a los que ya estaban. Os presentamos sus propuestas, sus realidades en las páginas de este libro; sus creaciones os emocionarán como lo han hecho con nosotros. Disfrutadlo!

Four years of intense work, but full of enthusiasm, have been left behind to leave in your hands the fifth edition of the Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook. Four years beside artists, gallerists... at your side. And you to ours. The creative process is complicated. Create is a trip to the imaginary and return to express this world of dreams. From here we want to accompany you and help you to make known the works of art that arise from this process. We listen to your needs and we try to investigate and inquire into the best way to move forward on this project. What encourages us is to share your emotions, your experiences, in short, your world. In each edition new artists join those who already were. We present their proposals, their realities in the pages of this book; their creations will excite you as they have done with us. Enjoy it!

El Premio Internacional Arte y Joya perfila su personalidad más investigadora. Los candidatos son los artistas participantes en el Anuario de Joyería Contemporánea. El premio recibe el nombre de la revista decana del Grupo Duplex.

The International Arte y Joya Award outlines its researcher personality. Candidates to it are the artists participating in the Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook. The award takes its name from the dean magazine of Grupo Duplex.

La elección siempre es reñida porque las propuestas representan un verdadero laboratorio de creatividad, en la que queremos reconocer la importancia de la joyería contemporánea como punta de lanza en el desarrollo del sector.

The election is always hard-fought because the proposals represent a veritable laboratory of creativity, in which we recognize the importance of contemporary jewellery as spearhead sector development.

El acto de entrega se realiza en el marco de JOYA, Contemporary Jewellery Week, el contexto ideal para destacar los artistas que se abren camino en todo el mundo.

AMANDA DENISON Me inspiro en rastros que dejan atrás la decadencia y el deterioro y en elementos repetidos que se distorsionan y cambian. Mi fascinación por los patrones y las texturas de las superficies se traslada a mis joyas. Trabajo con plata y cobre que capeo y manipulo mediante perforación y repujado antes de aplicar esmaltes y pátinas. I am inspired by traces left behind through decay and dilapidation and repeated elements that distort and change. My fascination with pattern and surface textures translates into my jewellery. I work with silver and copper that I layer and manipulate through perforation and repoussé prior to applying enamels and patinas.

Los seres vivos juegan un papel clave, y mientras que los sentidos son indispensables no se excluye la memoria involuntaria. Historias ocultas en una joya. ESTER FERRET Después de estudiar diseño de interiores y diseño industrial, trabajando durante unos años en el sector, pensé que lo mejor sería diseñar y elaborar mis propios objetos. La joyería me dio la opción de crear mis piezas y estudié para abrirme camino en este nuevo medio. EZRA SATOK-WOLMAN x ATELIER HG Mi trabajo explora el concepto de “Unidad” y mis interpretaciones de la geometría del universo, el “Átomo Primordial” y la relación entre naturaleza y matemáticas. La naturaleza y la vida misma presentan perfectos ejemplos de orden, estructura, simetría y geometría. Las matemáticas me dan el lenguaje necesario para decodificar y reinterpretar estos elementos en la joyería que creo. My work explores the concept of “Oneness” and my interpretations of the geometry of the universe, the “Primordial Atom,” and the relationship between nature and mathematics. Nature and life itself present perfect examples of order, structure, symmetry, and geometry. Mathematics gives me the language needed to decode and reinterpret those elements in the jewellery I create.

GLORIA CORBETTA Comenzó su carrera artística muy joven. Dedicada a la escultura, tiene un trabajo paralelo como diseñadora de joyas con un estilo único y claramente escultórico. Su curriculum como joyera incluye numerosas exposiciones; su línea de Joyas de Escultura y Artes Aplicadas en acero fue expuesta en el Memo Art, Galerie du Carrusel du Louvre, París, Francia (1996-1999). She began her artistic career very early in life, she eventually devoted to sculpture, has a parallel work as a jewelry designer with a unique, clearly sculptural style. Her jewellery curriculum includes numerous exhibitions; her line of Applied Art and Sculpture Jewels in steel was exhibited and traded in the Memo Art, Galerie du Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, France (1996-1999).

Sus obras expresan el detalle de la naturaleza como los pétalos de flores a través del bordado a mano tradicional chino. Los hilos reflejan el technicolor de la naturaleza. The series “Floral Print of Formosa” has chosen the unique local species which symbolize the beauty of Taiwan. The pictures were at first downloaded from the internet then meshing into digital grids by Photoshop. The artworks expressed the detail of nature like petals of flowers through Chinese traditional hand embroidery. The threads significantly weaving out the technicolor of nature.

HESTER POPMA-VAN DE KOLK En 2012 comencé a trabajar con chips de oro de tarjetas de crédito y SIM usadas. Creé joyas de aspecto tradicional con este moderno material (residuo). La forma de este broche se asemeja al mapa del mundo hecho de oro que es conocido a nivel mundial y nos conecta a todos, ‘Global Gold’. In 2012 I started working with golden chips from used creditand SIM cards. I create traditional looking jewellery with this modern (waste) material. The shape of this brooch resembles the map of the world made from the gold that is globally known and connects us all, ‘Global Gold’.

IACOV AZUBEL Disfruto trabajando en mi taller, observando los resultados de los experimentos que luego, al crear mis piezas, me dejan una sensación única en tiempos donde la vida corre a un ritmo vertiginoso. En el caso de este anillo, inyectando una impronta de cultura a un elemento tomando de la naturaleza, lo transforma en una obra de arte. I enjoy working in my studio, observing the results of experiments that then, when creating my pieces, leave me a unique feeling in times where life runs at a furious pace. In the case of this ring, injecting with a legacy of culture an element taken from nature, transforms it into a work of art.

Mi nuevo trabajo es el sonido de las palabras de la representación de los clásicos japoneses Yamato Kotaba; las palabras provienen de la cultura y la estética de Japón. Jewelry as art, art as jewelry. I prefer the beauty of simplicity and dynamic potential of materials. The theme of my works was embodying the scent of wind as jewelry. INHORGENTA MUNICH Cuando las puertas de INHORGENTA MUNICH se abran, del 12 al 16 de febrero de 2016, hacia el fascinante mundo de la joyería y la relojería, no debe faltar en la agenda una visita al pabellón C2. Allí es donde late el corazón del diseño, donde los visitantes pueden descubrir cosas realmente especiales y excitantes. Es un punto de encuentro para jóvenes diseñadores y mentes creativas de todo el mundo para intercambiar ideas, para presentar innovaciones técnicas, excepcional diseño y piezas individuales de joyería. Más de la mitad de los expositores del pabellón C2 vienen del extranjero. Jóvenes profesionales de España, Portugal, Italia, Polonia, Gran Bretaña, Grecia y, por primera vez, Brasil presentarán sus colecciones. Esta sala no es sólo una importante plataforma que ofrece una gran variedad de fuentes de inspiración, sino un trampolín para la carrera de jóvenes talentos. Una de las más prometedoras es Taehee In. La talentosa coreana encuentra la inspiración para sus notables creaciones en los comportamientos únicos e inusuales de las personas a las que se encuentra en su vida diaria. La joven diseñadora recibió el Premio de INHORGENTA en el reconocido Festival Internacional de Joyería de Legnica y ahora se le da la oportunidad de exhibir 106

sus creaciones en INHORGENTA MUNICH 2016. Además, las piezas de joyería de los galardonados en el concurso de Joyería Contemporánea Preziosa Young estarán en exhibición en el Forum Innovation. Los stands de diseñadores ya establecidos y pioneros como Angela Hübel, Schmuckatelier Zobel o Ulla y Martin Kaufmann forman un contraste interesante con los jóvenes talentos. Ellos cautivan al público con una gran variedad de formas, colores y materiales. Sorprendentes creaciones también estarán en exhibición en el pabellón conjunto griego, que estará entre los expositores de INHORGENTA MUNICH por primera vez. Nuevos inspiradores temas serán presentados a visitantes en el Inspiration Lab. Expertos de todo el mundo serán invitados a INHORGENTA MUNICH 2016 y debatirán la actualidad y el futuro de la industria en simposios, foros y paneles de discusión. INHORGENTA MUNICH When the gates of INHORGENTA MUNICH will open from 12 to 16 February 2016 towards a fascinating world of jewelry and watches, a visit to Hall C2 should not miss on the agenda. This is where the heart of design beats, where visitors can discover really special and exciting things. It is a meeting point for young designers and creative minds from all over the world to exchange ideas, present technical innovations, exceptional design and individual pieces of jewelry.

More than half of all exhibitors of Hall C2 come from abroad. Young professionals from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Great Britain, and Greece and, for the first time ever, Brazil will be presenting their international collections. This hall is not only an important platform offering a myriad of sources of inspiration but also a springboard for the careers of ambitioned young talents. One of the promising newcomers is Taehee In. The talented Korean finds the inspiration for her remarkable jewelry creations in unique and unusual behaviors of people whom she encounters in her daily life. The young designer received the INHORGENTA Award at the renowned Legnica International Jewellery Festival and is now given the opportunity to exhibit her creations at INHORGENTA MUNICH 2016. In addition, the jewelry objects of the prizewinners of the Preziosa Young Con-

temporary Jewellery Competition will be on display at the Forum Innovation. ANUARIO DE JOYERÍA CONTEMPORÁNEA, UN LIBRO DE AMPLIO RECORRIDO CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK, A BOOK ON TOUR

En las próximas páginas vamos a hacer un breve recorrido a través de las interesantes acciones realizadas con el Anuario de Joyería Contemporánea 2015/2016. In the next few pages we will make a brief tour through the interesting actions we made with the Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2015/2016.

IBERJOYA En el mes de Septiembre se celebró en Madrid el salón Madrid Joya en el marco de la 65 edición de Giftrends. La muestra presentó un amplio programa de actividades, conferencias, talleres prácticos, presentaciones de producto, etc. que en su conjunto ofrecieron un escenario dinámico y de importante atractivo, tanto para las empresas participantes como para los visitantes. Fue, asimismo, escenario de la celebración de tres pases de joyería. No faltaron en esta edición los stands Minis, que dan entrada a jóvenes emprendedores, talleres de diseño, etc. Uno de los eventos realizados dentro de este salón fue la exposición “Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2014/2015”, que dio una visión única de más de un centenar de artistas provenientes de todo el mundo que se dedican al diseño, la experimentación, las emociones, el arte... en el terreno del ornamento corporal. Todos ellos participantes en el Anuario. Esta exposición tuvo una gran acogida, como en anteriores ediciones, convirtiéndose en uno de los puntos más atractivos del Salón.

In the month of September was held in Madrid the Madrid Joya Show under the 65th edition of Giftrends. The fair presented a comprehensive program of activities, conferences, workshops, product presentations and so on, which offered a dynamic, attractive scenery, both for the participating companies and as well as for visitors. It was, also, the scene of the celebration of three jewellery catwalks. There was no shortage in this edition the Minis stands, which give way to young entrepreneurs and design workshops. One of the events held in this show was the exhibition “Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2014/2015”, which gave a unique insight into more than one hundred artists from all over the world who are dedicated to the design, experimentation, emotions, art... in the field of body ornament. All of them were participating in the Yearbook. This exhibition was a great success, as in previous editions, becoming one of the most attractive spaces in the show. 111

JOYA La sexta edición de JOYA Barcelona fue todo un éxito y se estableció como la principal feria de joyería de arte del mundo. Hizo su debut en el Arts Santa Mónica, donde se expusieron las piezas de casi 300 artistas procedentes de más de 40 países. En el showroom y boutique pudimos disfrutar de originales piezas como la resina inyectada con aire que imitaba bloques de hielo de Amira Jalet; los broches de Alina Carp, en acero, resina y plata en forma de rostros humanos; o creaciones de Mihau Bassou, elaboradas con piezas de electricidad y conectores Jack. Como en ediciones pasadas, Joya organizó interesantes conferencias relacionadas con la joyería contemporánea: mesa redonda para discutir la situación de la joyería de arte en los medios de comunicación hoy en día; Wolfgang Lösche habló acerca de Schmuck; y, charla de Giampaolo Babetto, quien ha constituido la excelencia y la innovación en la joyería durante más de 40 años. El evento paralelo de Off Joya invitó a visitar la “ruta de la joya”, por lo que quince galerías de prestigio en Barcelona, como La Basílica o Klimt02, organizaron diversas exposiciones. JOYA presentó una variedad de artistas y colecciones, además de promover la excelencia en joyería de arte con diferentes premios durante los días de la feria. Elin Flognman ganó el premio Author. El premio Joya fue para Gigi Mariani. El premio profesional de FAD Enjoia’t fue para Rodrigo Acosta. Y por último, la influencia asiática estuvo representado en el V premio Arte Y Joya que fue otorgado a Heng Lee, un joven artista taiwanés que juega con imágenes pixeladas y bordados a mano creando espectaculares joyas de arte.

The sixth edition of JOYA Barcelona was a complete success and became established as the main jewellery of art fair of world. Moreover, it made its debut in Arts Santa Monica, where exposed the pieces of almost 300 artists from more than 40 countries. In the showroom and boutique we were able to enjoy original pieces such as the injected resin with air pieces that imitated ice blocks from Amira Jalet; the brooches of Alina Carp, in steel, resin and silver shaped like human faces; or creations of Mihau Bassou, elaborated with electricity pieces and connectors Jack. As in past editions, Joya organized interesting conferences related to contemporary jewelry: round table to discuss the situation of jewellery of art in the media nowadays; Wolfgang Lösche spoke about Schmuck; and talk of Giampaolo Babetto, who has been the excellence and innovation in jewellery for over 40 years. The parallel event Off Joya also invited to visit the “route of the jewel”, to which fifteen galleries of prestige in Barcelona like La Basílica Gallery or Klimt02 Gallery organized various exhibitions. JOYA presented a variety of artists and collections, besides promoting the excellence in art jewellery with different awards during the days of the fair. Elin Flognman won the Author Award. The Joya Award was for Gigi Mariani. The professional award of Enjoia’t of FAD was for Rodrigo Acosta. ESPAIJOIA El pasado mes de Octubre se concentró en la ciudad condal el talento creativo y productivo de la joyería durante la Semana de la Joyería de Barcelona. Parte de este evento fue la quinta edición de Espaijoia, un encuentro del sector joyero nacional e internacional. En solo tres años, el salón se ha convertido en el meeting sectorial de referencia en Barcelona, caracterizado por su dinamismo y esencia. Además de la exhibición de joyas, durante los días del evento se ofreció un completo programa de actividades que incluyeron conferencias, desfiles y sesiones de networking. La novedad fue el espacio Galería de Autor, una sección dedicada exclusivamente a promover el diseño, la joyería contemporánea y la creatividad en toda su expresión. Además, un año más ELISAVA estuvo presente en el salón presentando los trabajos desarrollados por estudiantes provenientes de todo el mundo. Una edición más, se llevó a cabo la exposición Contemporary Jewellery Yearbook 2015/2016, en el que se presentaron las creaciones de los artistas participantes en el libro homónimo; obras que representan la joyería más creativa combinando formas y toda clase de materiales.

Last October reunited in our city the creative and productive talent of jewellery during the Barcelona Jewellery Week. Part of this event was the fifth edition of Espaijoia, a meeting of the national and international jewellery sector. In just three years, the fair has become the sectorial meeting of reference in Barcelona, characterized by its dynamism and essence. Besides the jewellery exhibition, during the days of the event was offered a full program of activities including conferences, catwalks and networking sessions. The novelty was the space GalerĂa de Autor, a section dedicated exclusively to promoting design, contemporary jewellery and creativity in all its expression. In addition, one more year ELISAVA was in the show presenting works developed by students from around the world. Hasta aquí la propuesta del Anuario de Joyería Contemporánea para 2015/2016: innovación, experimentación, interrogación, subjetividad, reflexión… en definitiva, arte en forma de joya. Cada obra posee un concepto, una historia que le dan identidad y razón, expresando los pensamientos más profundos de cada autor, sus experiencias, sus inquietudes y a través de su obra buscan hacernos partícipes de las mismas. Damos las gracias a todos los artistas que han ayudado a que este libro sea, de nuevo, una realidad; su talento y su entusiasmo son nuestro motor. Nos contagian su energía, su curiosidad, sus reflexiones… Por todos ellos, los que están ahora, los que estuvieron antes y los que están por venir, vamos a continuar adelante con la misma ilusión, poniendo todo el esfuerzo y voluntad en que la joyería contemporánea siga expandiendo sus horizontes.
