Ma s k i n g i n v i deo Masking is a tool i that allows you to target effects to a specific area or section of your video clip or image. It also allows you to cut out something or even place something on top of your video or image. That means, if you want to combine two clips into one, you can. You just have to mask the videos, images or video/images.
Masking in video 01. >Create New Project/ New Composition if you dont have a project already active ( refer to tutorial one for composition >Drag mp4( footage) and still mage into the project panel >Drag image and footage into the timeline Locate image layer above footage layer Creating a Mask 02. >Select layer/ image you would like to mask >Select pen tool and then select area you want to delete/ mask. 03. >Unpack image layer >Select mask path clock >Then select pull down menu on mask layer >Select subtract and click on inverted if needed in selecting the area that you want to mask in the video this shoudl now automatically reveal the video 04. >To feather the edges of the mask, select the mask feather by clicking on the clock. note all of these can be keyframmed in and out

Add i n g Au d i o Adding Audio >Adding audio is similar to adding an image or video to an AE project >Open a new project if you haven’t got one already open >File – import file (or drag audio file into project panel) (wav/audio file) >Then drag file into timeline for a composition and position it in the timeline as you would an image. Adding Audio >Unpack audio layer in the timeline to reveal the audio waveform >Use keyframing techniques to vary the audio levels along the timeline.

Effe c t s - Fra c t al Noi se Creating the Effect 1. >Create a solid layer in timeline >Right click in the timeline to activate menu, select new then solid 2. >Go to effects tab and select fractal noise Editing the Effect In fractal noise play with the various settings to see the effects and types of noise you can create For the purpose of creating clouds keep the settings as is 3. >Go to solid layer in timeline and under mode select screen. This should reveal the image below. 4. >Change the opacity of the effect if the cloud is too opaque >To simulate the movement of clouds unpack transform under the effect >Select offset turbulence clock and key frame a range of movement. Note keep the keyframing close to each other to capture the quality of movement of clouds
