Smart Cookies is the Girl Scout Cookie Program online portal. Volunteers and girls are able to manage every aspect of their cookie business from a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Ordering Cookies for Troop

All cookies are ordered through Planned Orders in Smart Cookies and are picked up at Cookie Cupboards. The deadline to enter Planned Orders in Smart Cookies is 10 PM Sundays. Cookies can be picked up throughout the week by person listed in the Order Notes field within Smart Cookies. They will be required to show photo ID to pick up cookies.

TCCs can place as many orders as necessary throughout the cookie program. Cookies are ordered by the case. There are 12 packages in a case. To correct or adjust an order, call the Cookie Cupboard hotline at 844-727-2884.

Troop Cookie Coordinators use Smart Cookies to:

• place Planned Orders for troop cookies

• enter cookie booth locations

• accept credit card payments at cookie booths

• allocate packages to Girl Scouts

• find/share the Troop Direct Ship link

• submit recognition selections

• manage troop finances

• manage troop inventory Girl Scouts use Smart Cookies to:

• create goals

• send e-cards with their sales links to family and friends

• accept credit card payments

• track progress

• select recognitions

Inventory Tracking

TCCs needs to keep an accurate inventory of cookies on hand, and communicate with families throughout the program to avoid excess inventory. Unsold cookies are the troop’s responsibility.

Helpful Reports:

Troop Balance Summary Report: to review all financial transactions generated, and balance owed to GSEMA.

Girl Cookie Totals Summary Report: to see if package allocation to girls is up-to-date so they can track their progress toward their goals, like 500 Club.

Mobile and Ecard Summary Report: to check girls’ online sales progress. This report will help track orders collected online that require girl delivery.

The Perks

Troops earn $0.90 per package sold

Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador troops may choose to opt out of the recognition program and earn an additional $0.05 per package. Troops opting out of recognitions are still eligible for the 500 Club Event or alternate recognition, theme patch, and crossover patch (if participated in Fall Product Program) once they achieve the required milestone and packages are allocated in Smart Cookies.

Cookie Credits

In addition to recognition items, Girl Scouts can also earn Cookie Credits once they have sold 100 packages of cookies. Credits can be used for GSEMA programs and camp, in GSEMA shops, at camp trading posts, and for GSEMA or GSUSA Destinations programs. Note: Girl Scout troops that opt out of incentives do not earn cookie credits.

Packages

Troop Treasure

Troop Treasure is earned using the Per Girl Average (PGA) metric. PGA is calculated by dividing the number of total packages the troop sold by the number of Girl Scouts registered into the troop. Troop treasure is cumulative. Incentives for troop leader are:

• 125 PGA: Troop coordinators earn a Tote Bag (1 per troop).

• 140 PGA and Zero Inventory: Troop coordinators earn the Cookie Program Volunteer T-shirt (2 per troop).

500 Club

When Girl Scouts sell 500 packages or more of Girl Scout Cookies, they earn a spot in the prestigious 500 Club! Membership perks include an in-person celebration at Canobie Lake Park in the spring of 2023. The event (date to be announced in early 2023) includes a ceremony and giveaways, and Girl Scouts get a sneak-peek at the 2023-24 cookie program theme and mascot.

CEO for the Day

The GSEMA 2022-23 top cookie entrepreneur will be the CEO for the day and spend the day with CEO and senior staff to learn about leadership skills.

Lowell Girl Scout April, GSEMA’s 2021-22 Top Cookie Entrepreneur

Last year, Girl Scout Ambassador April sold 5,335 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and earned the top recognition to take over as GSEMA CEO for the day (pictured right). April said that she had a pretty simple strategy when it came to outselling her peers: she set up a table at the end of her street after school and kept at it, using social media to promote her efforts.
