About Our Camps Camp Holloway Founded by Josephine Holloway in 1952, Camp Holloway offers overnight and day camp programs for girls ages 5-17. Camp Holloway offers a fun–filled camp experience with activities such as: archery, rock climbing, creek stomping, Corcls, funoeing, cooking, science, and more! Josephine Holloway believed that camp was meant for all girls and we couldn’t agree more! Camp is calling you to be YOU!
Camp Sycamore Hills Whether it’s canoeing, horseback riding, or aiming for the target on the archery range, Camp Sycamore Hills has what you want. We have been bringing once in a lifetime opportunities to girls for 60 years. Camp Sycamore Hills’ 742 acres are filled with songs, friendships, and s’more! Girls will stay in cabins or screened cabins. We can’t wait to see everyone this summer!

Accommodations at Camp Your camper has a variety of options for housing at Camp Holloway and Camp Sycamore Hills. Please find the description of each option below and check your camper’s program for which housing option is offered.
Cabin A cabin is climate-controlled with either single or bunk beds. Girls will sleep in one large room or in several smaller ones with 8-20 other girls. Some cabins include bathrooms and kitchen within the building and some have bathrooms nearby. Staff members will sleep in the same building (but in a separate room) as the girls.
Screened Cabin Screened cabins are smaller structures, half wood/ half screen, located together in a living unit. Each screened cabin has 4-6 beds. Campers sleep on bunk beds. These cabins have electricity and fans but are not climate-controlled. Bathrooms are located nearby. Staff members will sleep in a separate cabin near the campers’ sleeping area.
Platform Tent A platform tent is a semi-permanent structure with a wooden floor and heavy canvas roof and sides. Each tent holds four beds. Tents are arranged in groups to form a living unit. The sides can be rolled up to allow a cross breeze. Mosquito netting is provided during summer camp. A bathhouse with showers and flushing toilets is located close to platform tent units. Staff members will sleep in tents separate from the girls.

Horse Programs at camp sycamore hills Hay, don’t forget the horses! With more than 40 horses and an enthusiastic staff, you can try horseback riding with a sampler program or week-long horse program focused on improving your horsemanship skills. Horse programs include progressive riding instruction, games, and barn lessons. Whether you are new to horses or an experienced rider, we have horse programs designed for you! Campers also participate in traditional camp activities during their week. To help you select the best horse program, please read over the types of horse programs we offer. Remember that every girl progresses at her own rate. While some campers have the opportunity to take lessons throughout the year, others depend on their summer camp experiences to hone their skills. It is our goal to offer a variety of horse programs that will provide safe, fun instructional experiences for all skill levels.

Campers participate in eight riding lessons and eight ground lessons during the week. Boots & Saddles – Girls entering grades 4-5 Bits & Bridles – Girls entering grades 4-5 Way Out West I & II – Girls entering grades 6-12 Going English I & II – Girls entering grades 6-12 Ride Sycamore – Girls entering grades 6-12
Equestrian Manager Approved Riding Programs Prerequisites and a possible riding test are required for these programs. Campers registering for these programs should be able to walk, trot, and canter unfamiliar horses. An explanation of previous riding instruction and experience will be required before registration is completed. Jumping I & II and Take the Reins are for campers that are actively taking jumping lessons and will require a reference from a current jumping instructor/trainer. Contact information for the instructor will be required during the registration process. All registrations must have equestrian manager approval. Cowgirl Spirit – Girls entering grades 6-12 Jumping I & II – Girls entering grades 6-12 Take the Reins – Girls entering grades 6-12
Preparatory Riding Programs Prerequisites are required for these programs. Campers registering for a preparatory riding program should be comfortable at the walk and trot on a variety of horses. Intro to Jumping I & II requires completion of Going English I & II, Ride Sycamore, or equivalent English experience. If your camper does not take regular English riding lessons during the school year, it is recommended that she participate at least twice in Going English I & II and/or Ride Sycamore before registering for Intro to Jumping sessions. Participating in Intro to Jumping I & II multiple times will also be beneficial for campers who do not take lessons during the school year. Intro to Jumping I & II - Girls entering grades 6-12
