*Members may substitute for the word God in accordance with their own spiritual beliefs.

Icebreaker: Have the girls say their name and their favorite ice cream avor. If you like that one too, high ve!

Pick at least three of the following activities to complete to earn this petal!

You can do these all in one meeting or over several meetings if you wish. Feel free to be creative, and modify or supplement these ideas with your own activities around the theme of being considerate and caring.

Activity 1: Talk about it!

Ask the girls:

What does being considerate and caring mean to you?

How could you show your mom, dad, or caregiver you care about them?

How could you show your grandparents you care?

How could you show your pet you care?

How do you show your classmates you care?

Activity 2: Share and care!

Show and tell: Have the girls bring in an item from home that someone who is considerate and caring gave to them, or a photo of someone who is considerate and caring. (Be sure to send parents a text reminder the day before the meeting!) Take turns showing and telling about their item. If anyone forgot their item, they can just tell about it.

Activity 3: Make someone smile!

Joy is contagious! Pair the girls up, and have them stand or sit directly across from each other. Tell the girls to take turns making silly faces, telling a joke, etc. (without touching) to make the other person laugh or smile. Switch partners a few times if time allows. Was it easy or hard? How did making another person laugh make you feel?

Tell the girls that laughter and smiling really are contagious. Science has shown that people often automatically smile or laugh when they see someone else doing it! When you smile, your brain releases chemicals that ght off stress and can help your heart rate and mood. So smile as much as possible!

Activity 4: Show you care!

Brighten someone’s day with this cute rainbow craft! Follow the instructions below and then give it to someone who needs some good cheer or donate to a local nursing home or hospital residents.

Step 1: Cut paper plate in half.

Step 2: Cut a half-circle from center.

Step 3: Use paint (included) to color the rainbow.

Step 5: Glue cotton ball clouds to each end of rainbow. Punch a hole through top and tie a ribbon (included) to hang.

Step 4: Stretch cotton balls (included) to make cloud shapes.

Activity 5: Kindness is...

If you have access to a tablet or laptop, show the girls this YouTube video of The Kindness Book by Todd Parr. (Or nd a copy at your local library and read it yourself!) Then have each girl be inspired to make their own Kindness is… poster! Inspire others by hanging it up at school or in the community. (Ask rst, of course.)

Wrap-up:

End the meeting with a friendship circle/friendship squeeze. Have the girls help with any clean-up tasks. Talk about what you are doing at the next meeting, get their ideas for activities, and share upcoming meeting dates, homework, volunteer needs, etc. with parents as they arrive for pick-up. Consider sending a follow-up text with this information if needed.
