Volunteer Appreciation: We Just Want to Say “Thank You”
Let’s have a virtual round of applause for our council volunteers after two challenging years of delivering programs to girls. Since we have been unable to personally celebrate local volunteerism because of the pandemic, please know that you are ALL appreciated members of Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council. Join us in recognizing and thanking national and council award recipients as well as high numeral recognitions submitted by Communities or council committees on behalf of volunteers for the 2020 and 2021 membership years. While these highlighted volunteers are only the tip of the iceberg in our vast and valued volunteer pool, they represent the commitment and dedication to the Girl Scout movement for our whole council and the local community where they serve. Thank you for being a Girl Scout.

Troop Camping Updates
As we wrap up the 2020-2021 membership year and look ahead to 2021-2022 membership year, we wanted to let you know about some changes coming to the troop camp request process. Starting on June 21, troops may reserve camp units from September 1, 2021 through February 28, 2022. And on December 1, troops may reserve camp units from March 1, 2022 through August 31, 2022. This placement will be first-come, first-served and troops may request a unit at any time until two weeks before their desired camp weekend. Troops may only have two future reservations booked at any given time.
How do I reserve a camp unit? Complete a F-127 Troop/Group Camp Request and email it to campreservations@sjgs.org, along with a copy of your troop first aider’s certifications. List your troop’s camp-trained volunteer on the form.
Remember, your camp-trained volunteer must have taken Outdoor Training (both In-Town and At-Camp) OR have taken Camping and Overnight Basics (and possibly Volunteer Camper Certification.) Keep in mind, troops whose volunteer has only taken Camping and Overnight Basics will not be able to have a campfire and should plan alternatives for their meals.
Submit your form at least two weeks before your desired camp weekend. Allow at least five business days for a response and confirmation of your group’s placement. (Allow longer if you are submitting four weeks or more before your desired camp weekend.)
How will I know what units are available? We are evaluating options for sharing camp availability and will send an email to everyone currently on the Camp Corner list once that has been finalized.
Keep in mind that Camp Whispering Pines and Camp Wind-A-Mere will be available from October 1, 2021 through November 21, 2021. All other camps will be open every weekend, except holiday weekends.
Are there coronavirus restrictions? GSSJC will continue to monitor health and safety guidance into 2022. Please make camp reservations based on your group’s best-case scenario, knowing that we will communicate any changes in protocols that might impact your camp reservation as soon as possible.
