LOCAL TRENDS By Josie Moyer
Let the GUd Times Roll Photo credit: instagram.com/gudmunchies
GUd Munchies is a new shop in Tumon that serves a popular Thai street food most of us in Guam have never tried: ice cream rolls. The shop opened its doors on March 2 and is owned and operated by partners Troy Sagun and Robert Delos Reyes. Ice cream rolls are just what you might imagine them to be: handcrafted rolls of ice cream packed into a cup and topped with your favorite candy, nuts, or fresh fruit. The simple 3-step process starts with choosing a milk base (yogurt will be an option in the future), picking a flavor, and then selecting your toppings. GUd Munchies currently offers three milk-base options (full cream, soy, and almond), six signature flavors, and a variety of toppings from which to choose such as chocolate chip cookies, Fruity Pebbles, granola, gummy bears, and strawberry Pocky. The milk is poured onto a cold metal plate and is mixed, mashed, frozen and rolled while you watch. While a machine at home could take as long as 24 hours to produce fresh ice cream, it only takes GUd Munchies a few minutes to create ice cream rolls from scratch. GUd Munchies will be rolling out new flavors next week, and is also planning to launch other snack concepts such as egglets (egg-shaped waffles that are GUd Munchies d floor near Kicks and DNA) commonly sold by street vendors in Hong Kong) and ice cream donuts. The shop Location: The Plaza (Groun m to 10pm also serves a selection of coffees and teas. Hours: Open daily from 11a 83 -24 969 Phone: udmunchies Facebook and Instagram: @g

The lifestyle brand with athletic and streetwear influences was created by Joseph Babauta, who was inspired to design a clothing line that evokes emotion when the words “limitless” and “authentic” are combined. Limitless Authentic aims to encourage others to recognize their own potential and take their talents and passions as far as they can go, but to also stay grounded and true to self. CONTROL YOUR AIR CONDITIONER
ANYTIME, ANYWHERE By Josie Moyer
O
n July 17, 1902, Dr. Willis Carrier designed the first modern air-conditioning system, initiating an industry that would essentially improve the way we work, live and play. More than a hundred years later, Carrier still strives to improve lives with the introduction of its Wi-Fi controllable, energy efficient mini split units on Guam. This means with the presence of Wi-Fi at your home (or wherever your unit is located) and with an Apple or Android device, you can control all the functions and features of your air conditioner from anywhere around the world. All you need to do is download the app onto your smart phone or tablet and register your unit(s) in the app. Not only can you switch your unit on or off; you can set up timers for different days of the week, run the self-diagnosis feature to troubleshoot your unit, or choose a sleep mode designed towards the sleep curves of children, the elderly, and everyone else in between. If this new technology doesn’t impress you, no problem! The real benefit of the Wi-Fi enabled units is that its energy efficient with a 16-26 SEER rating. The higher the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, the less you will pay on your power bill. Carrier Guam Inc. is your one stop shop for all your air-conditioning needs from small residential split units to large commercial chillers. At Carrier, its units are backed by its world class technical support, its parts superstore, and its longevity. For all your cooling needs, turn to the experts. Feeling Frisky Frisky Feline at the Hafa Adai Exchange is owned and managed by husband and wife team Chris and Sharon Pangelinan. The shop sells women’s apparel and is known for their selection of prom dresses, cocktail dresses and lingerie, but also carries swimwear, accessories, and … inverted umbrellas. An inverted umbrella, also called an upside-down or reverse umbrella, folds inwards to keep water from dripping onto the floor. Unlike a normal umbrella that folds down, an inverted umbrella folds up and the opposite way, trapping drops of water inside it. The shop has a variety of inverted umbrellas and plans to add a selection of custom-designs featuring the Guam Seal and other island themes. The brick-and-mortar shop opened earlier this month on March 11, after selling online through Facebook for the past eight months. Current promotions include prom dresses up to 65% off and cocktail dresses priced between $10 and $25.

The Sinajaña Stunner By Josie Moyer
T
his gorgeous dream house in Sinajaña is the result of a complete overhaul and renovation. Everything in this house is brand new, including the electrical, plumbing, and sewer lines. Over 2,630 sqft of space gives you room to move – the living room is spacious and open, perfect for families and entertaining. The bright, airy kitchen features new stainless steel appliances, loads of storage and granite countertop space, and elegant lighting and finishes. Dark laminate wood flooring and complete LED recessed lighting throughout the house give the home a modern, posh feel. There are four bedrooms in the house, and three of them each have their own bathroom. One of the bedrooms occupies the entire second floor loft and has its own bathroom, a walk-in closet, and private access to a railed patio that overlooks the village. This could be the home office you’ve been dreaming about. Outside, the large carport can accommodate up to 4 cars, and a covered lanai provides a space to barbecue and entertain – rain or shine. The home’s front windows feature panel-style typhoon shutters that don’t take away from its curbside appeal, and the rest of the windows have accordion style shutters. The lot has potential for a yard, and its retaining wall could become a space for a garden wall. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood that is close to church, schools, a fire station, a grocery store and gas station, and is two minutes from downtown Hagåtña. This house is a must-see!
