Tips on How to Buy, Sell or Trade-in Your Vehicle Information provided by Florencio “Larry S. Rupley, Jr. Cell: 671-988-1627 By P.K. Kahn
1
Do your research. Look in Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com), consumer reports and websites like edmunds.com to research new and used cars including car prices in your area, dealership incentives and inventory listings, rebate options, car reviews and comparisons, car buying advice and other information, before visiting car dealerships.
2 3
Decide on what car you want, based on gas mileage, maintenance and insurance costs, safety features, and your personal and financial needs. Narrow down your choices to three.
Be willing to spend extra on safety features. Brands like the GMC Yukon and Buick LaCrosse have safety monitor systems that cover blind spots, and indicators or sensors, like lane departure signals, beeps and vibrating chairs and steering wheels to ensure driver and passenger safety.
4 4 | Guam Super Shopper | February 24, 2017
Visit more than one dealership to look for the best deal and payment terms.
5
If you are selling your car, consider dealerships that will give you more value to your car — up to 120%, or $2000 over the wholesale trade in value — if you do a trade in, like Guam Auto Spot. Guam Auto Spot will also give you a free appraisal.
6 7
If you are selling or trading in your car, consider reconditioning your car to increase its market value. Replace tires and brakes where needed, check for engine and airbag warning lights, and any type of noise from the engine or other parts of the car. Reconditioning can cost from $500-$2500. Dealerships like Guam Auto Spot also offer reconditioning services.
Consider dealerships that offer consignment and advertising, like Guam Auto Spot.
8 9
Before going to a dealership, give considerable thought on how you would like to pay for your car. Guam Auto Spot offers in-house financing, even for bad to average credit.
Negotiate for the best price and terms of payment.
10
Make sure you have a valid driverS license and can show two recent paycheck stubs, or a verification of employment (VOE) when you make your purchase.

ver since man bought his first car, he has been working to maintain that new car shine. Wax is the most common method of protecting a vehicle’s glossy exterior, and it works well as long as it is consistently applied. But if you’re looking for protection and shine that is superior to wax, glass or ceramic coating might be the solution for you. Unlike wax, which breaks down and requires a new coat every few months, glass and ceramic coatings form a permanent adhesion to the paint, giving it a brilliant, water-resistant shine that can only be removed through abrasion such as machine polishing. The durable coating also protects against scratches, UV rays, corrosion and heat. Sorgo Car Detailing in Harmon offers both glass coating and ceramic coating services. The process takes 2 to 3 days, and begins with multiple car washes using purified drinking water. “Guam’s tap water contains lime, which can affect the glass coating chemical,” said Chang Won, general manager of Sorgo Car Detailing. “So, when we prepare a car for glass coating, we start by washing it with purified water.” Guam’s weather and environmental conditions are factors in the process the company prepares cars for glass coating and applies the chemical. “Guam weather is very different from most places. We have extreme heat, and also humidity and salt in the air. We take all of these things into consideration when applying glass and ceramic coating,” said Won. According to Won, glass coatings can last up four years if properly maintained, and a premium ceramic coating can last up to seven years. Glass coating at Sorgo Car Detailing starts around $300 for compact cars, and is backed by a two-year warranty. Located next to Diamond Auto Parts in Harmon Industrial Park, Sorgo Car Detailing also offers steam auto cleaning and detailing, with prices as low as $40 for express service.
