Associate Director – Housing Facilities
General Description: The Associate Director of Housing Facilities serves as the primary liaison between University Housing and the Division of Facilities Services. This position is responsible for the oversight of ensuring the residential environment is conducive to the academic success and personal development of residential students. This is accomplished through developing and maintaining a positive working relationship with all functional areas within University Housing and the Division of Facilities Services, addressing student needs, evaluating and analyzing facilities related concerns, and promoting successes within the residential environment. This position will also establish a collaborative relationship with the on-site Corvias Campus Living partners on the Savannah campus. The Associate Director reports directly to the Director of Administrative Services, works with the Residence Education Leadership Team, and serves as a member of the University Housing Leadership Team.
Job Specifications/Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree;
• Five (5) years of experience in building management or a college residential environment (seven years of experience in a residential environment preferred);
• Experience in a supervisory position in a higher education, group living, or residential environment;
• Knowledge of facilities programs and practices;
Preferred Qualifications and Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Seven (7) years of experience in a college residential environment
• Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas: leadership, supervision, crisis management, group dynamics, budget management, decision making, and professionalism;
• Ability to respond to emergencies in on-campus residence halls without accommodation;
• Well-organized and able to effectively manage an environment with ever-changing demands and deadlines;
• Understanding of residential student needs;
• Excellent interpersonal communication, organization, and administrative skills; demonstrated experience with taking initiative;
• Strong ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with multiple constituents, including campus offices, students, staff, faculty members, and various other community groups;
• Commitment to education, celebration of diversity, and raising social awareness;
• Ability to physically lift 25 pounds with or without accommodation
Remuneration/Benefits:
The Associate Director of Housing Facilities position is a twelve-month position. Salary is commensurate with experience (expected between $68,369 and $88,934) A state employee benefits package is also included.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Administration and Collaboration
• Serve as primary point of contact between the Division of Facility Services (DFS) and University Housing
• Indirectly supervise maintenance and housekeeping staff who work in the residential environment
• Maintain a high level of contact with students and staff by walking through buildings on a regular basis
• Serve as University Housing representative on all Facilities Planning, Design & Construction projects within University Housing buildings on the Statesboro Campus
• Perform frequent audits of DFS work conducted in residential spaces through assessing physical completed work and student satisfaction. Make recommendations for changes or improvements to the student experience.
• Participate in providing residence hall improvements such as solicitations for furniture, appliances, updates to common area spaces, etc. Serve as University Housing representative with solicitation bids for service contracts impacting University Housing.
• Coordinate with Facilities Services to establish a schedule for preventative maintenance (PM). Audit completion of PM schedule.
• Utilize TMASystems to review and audit work order submissions and completion for Housing complexes
• Ensure University Housing grounds are well kept and aesthetically appealing
• In conjunction with DFS, manage the warehouse inventory of University Housing supplies and materials
• Assist with long-range planning and goal development for facility renovation and new building construction
• Review all DFS departmental billing attributed to University Housing facilities to determine appropriate charge locations
• Coordinate the training, usage, and upkeep of University Housing fleet vehicles
• Oversee distribution and management of staff keys & access within University Housing
• Coordinate with Parking Services and Information Technology to ensure parking lot gate functions as intended
• Work with Residence Education staff to identify billable charges for student damages. Secure invoices from DFS Billing for student conduct charges and distribute to the Coordinator of Residential Support.
• Manage University Housing event set-up and internal move process for event related materials
• Develop educational materials related to maintenance and upkeep of a residential space for students to optimize living in a residential environment
• Coordinate with DFS regarding residence hall opening and closing needs
• Collaborate with University Police and Information Technology to ensure surveillance cameras are operational. Make recommendations regarding safety needs.
• Work with the Assistant Director of Guest Services to coordinate summer space usage for residential spaces, including turns for student move-out and camps & conferences
B. Department, Division, University and Professional Engagement
• Present programs and training workshops to students and staff on matters related to residential facilities
• Collaborate with Directors, Associate Directors, and other staff on projects and initiatives as needed.
• Serve on University and Departmental committees as assigned.
• Represent University Housing through supporting institutional needs including Orientation, Admissions Recruitment Events, etc.
• Some evening and weekend work required.
C. Emergency Response and Crisis Management
• Respond to major after hours facilities crisis situations as needed
• Establish and revise standard operating procedures with partners in University Housing and DFS
• Investigate concerns regarding facility conditions as reported by students, parents, or guests. Follow up with concerned parties as needed.
D. Other Responsibilities
• Respond to any departmental needs in the absence of the Director of Business Administration.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Business Administration or University Housing.
