The Course This course is organized in two online modules, each one taking 18 weeks. Depending on the candidate’s progress in the first module, they may be advised to sit the official exam before the end of the course. Each teacher will have pin-code access to the learning system (see more details below). All work is done virtually, and is based on the interaction among the candidates. Although the course is asynchronous, real time sessions may be requested by the tutor. Tutors will be online in some periods of the weeks, and participants’ questions will not take more than 24 hours to be answered by one of them. Quizzes, papers and other tasks may take up to one week to be returned. One extra face-to-face session per module may be arranged, especially for interview assessment purposes. It will probably happen in the last month of the course, and will take place on Skype or Google Hangouts. The objective of the course is to help candidates prepare for the exam offered as from June/2015.

Course Participants & Prerequisites Groups are formed only by teachers of EFL/ESL, who may be taking the course from different parts of the world. Before teachers enroll, they are asked to send us a scanned image of their FCE certificate, or IELTS 7. Any other certificate being used as proof of linguistic level at B2 level must have been issued in the previous 18 months to enrolment and will be appreciated by tutors. In case the teacher has no official exam certificate, a placement interview (be done via Skype or Google Hangouts) can be done. However, linguistic ability is not the only pre-requirement for the course. Candidates are also required to:
make sure they will have access to a computer, scanner, and internet connection for the period of the course;
dedicate an average of 3-5 hours a week;
understand courses taken in VLEs, even if asynchronous, are highly dependent on online interaction;

Assessment Assessment happens all through the course. Officially, each module consists of 2 quizzes, 4 compositions, 3 recordings, 1 full Practice Test and 1 end-of-term test, which are assessed by tutors in no more than 7 days after they are uploaded by the candidate (they are written/recorded by the candidate and uploaded). Deadlines for these tasks are not negotiable, and need to be respected. The team of tutors marks the papers and sends them back to candidates. Other aspects such as self-study, homework, online tasks, are also going to be analysed along the course. Reports will be issued to participants or schools.
