“In the Struggle for Survival”
-Manningtree Waterfront Centre
Third year project

The project aims to transform the Manningtree waterfront area into a public space that accommodates a community kindergarten and park. It is intended to alleviate the parenting pressures faced by local residents. Additionally, the waterfront area will be returned to the Manningtree town, and the Jewson company will be relocated to a nearby industrial zone. The site will then be renovated into a public park, connecting it with the high street area, thereby revitalizing the community.
Due to the existing space not meeting the government’s requirements for children’s space, I have added eight new wooden pillars on the existing ones to support beams in order to extend the floor and increase the available space.
The existing building is an industrial structure designed for storing construction materials, therefore it lacks any insulation or soundproofing measures. To achieve insulation and soundproofing effects, I have used new wool insulation, soundproof panels, and plywood. Additionally, I have applied soundproof paint on the interior walls to isolate indoor and outdoor noise. Moreover, I have chosen blue and green colors to help maintain a calm emotional state for the children.
