6. The BIODYNAMIC Monthly Planting Calendar 7. Miscellaneous - Major Planetary Aspects
1. Introduction Each month the moon moves through all 12 constellations of the zodiac (sidereal cycle). This forms the basis of the biodynamic calendar. Although the waxing and waning (synodic) cycle is the most well known lunar rhythm, it plays a small part in this calendar. The Moon’s cycle incorporates the constellation it passes, its ascending/descending phase, apogee & perigee, oppositions, nodal times as well as planetary effects are considered. Since ancient times the 12 zodiac constellations have been associated with each of the four elements: earth, water, air, and light. 3 constellations are connected to each element, and each element is related to a part of the plant: Earth – Root Water – Leaf Air – Flower Fire – Fruit
(Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius); (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
For example:
for sowing or harvesting carrots an earth – root day should be chosen; for lettuce – a water – leaf day; cut flowers and broccoli – an air – flower day and for for beans and apples – a fire – fruit day
The influences have most effect when the soil is disturbed and /or when the biodynamic preparations have been used. Choosing suitable times for cultivation, as well as for sowing and harvesting, is therefore important.
(a) Introduction to this Calendar - The Constellation entries are astronomical based and calculated using SKYMAP Pro 10 - All times are recorded on the Map in UT (GMT) time. - The bulge at the Equator is caused by the Earth’s rotation and determines the doubling up of the Ascending/Descending Moon times. The Moon passes over the Equator 2x a month, compared to 1x in southern & northern hemispheres. - The precise location of the equator is not truly fixed but this calendar uses the celestial equator to determine when Ascending & Descending times begin - The Ascending & Descending Path of the Moon plus its Perigee & Apogee movement has been exaggerated for easy eye reference - The Countries & Time Zones offered between 120 north & south of Equator is not exhaustive - If one lives between these zones one ought to know time adjustments - Apologies that New Zealand is not on the Cover - The minimum time is used for No Planting Times/Garden Warnings - Add an extra hour to the Moon’s entry into each Constellation - The Zodiac & Planets are depicted in the 4 colours of the plant it has a particular affinity to RE: red→fruit/seeds, pink/purple→flowers, green→leaves, stems & maroon→ root. - One has to calculate the Overriding Trine Times depending on your time zone - as all calculations are given in UT - All Major Planetary Aspects are included for experimental & experiential use under Section 7 Miscellaneous - The Moon’s phases may be incorrectly illustrated on the maps also the Moon in the Sun symbol on the cover - this is because of time restraints and converting the southern hemisphere Moon from the South African BD Planting Moon Calendar - The visual monthly Planets (top of map) is via Constellation and not Date - Meteor Showers are presented with time of 0:00 meant for night viewing - Because the Equator has different overhead times re living north or south of it - this Calendar concentrates on 00 with indications of time lapses to 120 N/S - The Cover is a composite of FREE images and imagination: https://www.pexels.com/ - February has many nodal meetings hence the month is greatly disturbed. - Some days are FULL of swirling energy - Is our mood affected? EG: 5th - 10th Feb - nodal imbalances, lunar directional changes, oppositions, Full Moon, Perigee - Look at the planetary Map at the top = the Sun & Planetary monthly movements - when the Moon travels past these planets it creates additional energy nudges especially the dance between Jupiter, Saturn & Pluto! EG: 18-19 March; 14-15 April; 11-12 May ++ - 6 partial, visible & elsewhere, annular lunar & solar eclipses in 2020 - I did not add the BD preps nor the Peppering times - Although one can look to the Planetary Guide to see when Venus is passing through Scorpion (December time) - I love to experience the energetic forces of Earth/Nature, People & Sky/Cosmos and behold its “Energetic Forces” via Planting - Its Real! - Future Plans consist of new Equator format as well as being available for specific BD Planting areas in the world - Just remember 7 steps re Moon Planting: Constellation, Phase, Distance, Ascending/Descending, its Nodes, Oppositions and the Overriding Trines - This Calendar supplies these times - Remember to convert local time from Universal Time ------- Solberry :)

Coincidentally, at Peak Ascendant the Moon will either be at Apogee or Perigee or few days out. (see dates: 26 Feb, 7 Apr, 18 May, 12 & 25 July, 18 Sep) When Moon is at Apogee or close the Moon will be traveling north of Equator When Moon is at Perigee or close the Moon will be traveling south of Equator - visually represented on Monthly Maps So ideally, if living north or south of Equator there is a time KEY re calculating the more exact overhead Peak Ascendant time with each degree (north or south) Perigee Moon at Peak Ascendant for every degree South add 4hrs

(f) Plant Parts
The different constellations also generate favourable conditions to the plants that the Moon focuses on as it passes in front of the fixed stars of each Constellation. The effects are shown in the following ways.
Plant sap awakening, growth slow & steady Plant sap maximum output, germination at peak ; Sow seeds 48hrs before FM; Apply liquid manures 48hrs before Full ; Watch out for insects; Use BD Prep 504; Look out for Moon opposite Saturn ( ) & Moon opposite Jupiter ( ); The Full Moon influence allows good absorption of liquid manures.. Plant sap settling, roots gathering strength
Apogee → Moon furthest from Earth → Ag
(b) Perigee & Apogee
Perigee → Moon closest to Earth → Pg
Perigee: Avoid sowing seeds, tendency towards fungus growth & insect attack. Apogee: Sowing seeds will produce small plants & tends to create bolting in vegetables. Good time for POTATOES.
(c) Transplanting - Descending Moon ROOTS more vital
Transplanting/Replanting/ Repotting; Pruning fruit trees in appropriate season on fruit day or flowering trees on flower days; Manuring the soil / Compost / BD preps; Hedge cutting; Spray BD#500 in the afternoon (autumn/ early Spring); Root harvests on an Earth/Root day
(d) Sowing - Ascending Moon
Upper PLANT more vital
Good for Sowing SEEDS in appropriate Constellation; Cuttings; Graftings; Cutting Xmas trees; Mowing the lawn; Spray BD#501 → early growth in appropriate constellation; All other harvests : fruits, flowers, vegies, bd plants,
(e) Oppositions
Oppositions are generally considered favourable to life processes. The Moon opposite Saturn is especially Opposite Mars favourable. The balancing effect of these opposing Opposite Jupiter energy influences, encourages vigorous & healthy Opposite Saturn development of plants sown or planted at this time.

-
Fruit & Seeds Roots Flowers Leaves & Stem
Whatever one wants to cultivate on the plant one does so whilst the Moon is passing in front of a Constellation favouring the corresponding element as the LUNAR movements are the primary features. Examples Roses, other flowers - sow, transplant, repot, cultivate on a FLOWER day Carrots - main part of the carrot is the ROOT so ROOT day are called upon Lettuce, lawns - LEAF days for garden considerations Pumpkins, peas, grains, cereals - FRUIT days for sowing, transplanting etc ** The influences of the particular Constellation are brought into the soil through working with the soil, also by the spraying of Horn Silica Preparation. The germinating seed also receives these influences, so if it is desired to promote certain influences one cultivates and sows the seed during its favourable constellation period.

(a) Sun & Planets
5. The Sun, Planets and Constellations
- Earth began in a primordial misty warmth. (Saturn bears its memory within) It gradually densified into warmth-air (Jupiter) and further into warmth-airwater (Mars) and finally into today’s warmth-air-water-earth (Earth). - The Sun has a similar influence to that of the Moon Rhythm…. Experiments reveal how the Sun strongly affects one the 4 plants parts when sowing seed. - Mars, Jupiter & Saturn “energy” reaches deep and the siliceous rocks of the earth reflect it back to the soil. - The inner planets (Mercury & Venus) also has elemental affinities and with the Moon’s energetic forces are drawn into the soil through the earth’s clay & limestone. - Mercury & Venus potent influence when at greatest elongation (furthest E or W from the Sun); superior conjunction and at maximum brilliance. An example is when Venus shines brightly during early Spring evenings - this prolongs and seems to add extra depth of colours to the Spring flowers. - The Planets moving across constellations carry and convey the memory of our past in a forming shaping structuring manner. A classic example is the birth chart or horoscope.

(b) Relationships between planets
(c) Overriding Trines Trines: When the distance between 2 or more planets is 1200 apart, the planets will be in complimentary elements. The planetary qualities are submissive to the Constellational elements of : Fire - Fruit/Seeds Earth - Roots Air - Flowers Water - Leaves/Stems This influence overrides the Moon’s elemental influence. Examples:
eed
(d) Garden Warnings
h There are certain cosmic disturbances that interfere with plant growth. These are Perigee and when the Moon and planets cross the Ecliptic. The time of these warnings are average as per noted by this Calendar. Some urge more time warnings. This is NOT the time to cultivate the soil, sow, transplant, prune re any major changes.
(e) When planets are RETROGRADE R - Closest to the Earth - exerts a heavier influence on the “general atmosphere” by adding its own specific influence to the quality of the Moon day
