JOB: TOURIST GUIDE Job profile: Tourist guides show visitors around places of interest, such as towns and cities, historic buildings, gardens, religious sites or museums and art galleries. You will need excellent communication skills in this job. You will also need to have a good memory for facts, figures and events. If you are good at public speaking, and are interested in history and the arts, this could be the ideal job for you. There are not any specific entry requirements to get into this work but many employers would ask for GCSE passes (UK), particularly in English and maths. There are courses available in tourist guiding that could help you develop the skills you would need. -M Career options: Work in one place, do touristic tours or work in a whole country at different places. But be prepared that tourist guiding is often a seasonal work so you are kind of independent and you have to organize a lot by yourself. Many tourist guides are self-employed. If you have experience in jobs that are related to the touristic branch it would be an advantage for getting better tours. If you are attending to some courses by the Institute of Tourist Guiding you could come up to level four and then you would be a tourist guide around a wider geographical area, and you would have learned a lot about tour planning and management skills. You will be always learning more and if you are changing your route or your working place you will get to know so much more about them. I think that it is interesting to learn so much about new places, the culture and history and this job is a good opportunity to travel around. -M Summary “Tourismus in Deutschland boomt“ - 11.06.2013 http://www.bundestag.de/presse/hib/2013_06/02/255862 This article is really professional and it is written from the government of Germany so also an official document. It is also said that more than 30 percent of the Germans are holidaying in their own country and that is quite normal to travel around Germany for the Germans. The tourism in Germany is probably going to raise even more in the next years. Especially the southern part of Germany is a favored place for spending vacations for Germans as well as for foreigners. This is probably because of the friendliest behavior to the guests as many visitors

WRITERS OPINION AND SUMMARY: Writers opinion. I find this subject interesting because of the massive increase of the tourism in Iceland. Also Iceland‘s nature is unique and different from almost every country on earth. The raw nature and the numbers of activities in Iceland also interest me even though I have lived here all my life. There is nothing that compares to the beauty of a clean, raw and untouched nature. It would be wonderful to show curious travelers the country and see the look on their faces as they see every hidden treasure that the nature possesses. -G Summary. It seems like that the tourism in Iceland is increasing more with every year that passes. The amounts of exciting and adventurous things to do are quite many and there is, without doubt, something interesting for everyone. If you don´t like adventurous, exciting things like river rafting or ice climbing, you can always go sightseeing around the country and visit it‘s glorious waterfalls and other treasures. –G
