The falls _Studio the Bad_Simon Hartmann ( HHF Architects)_Niksic_2014

This project is about an adaptation and a reconstruction of a monument to Socialist revolution that has lain unfinished and derelict for almost 30 years. It is a competition won by Simon Hartmann (HHF Architects, Basel) the teacher of the studio. The aim is to convert the Modernist building, whose name translates as Home of Revolution, into a usable structure for the city's residents. In this sense, this project was proposed to the students of the studio’’ THE BAD’’. This building was commissioned to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the city's liberation from Axis occupation following the second world war. The unusually shaped building made from concrete, red metal trusses and abundant glazing was intended to host a theatre, music school and events spaces. The proposal must take the existing architecture as a starting point and with pragmatic interventions, the new infrastructure reinvents the urban space.

Pools of Niksic

Omnipresence of water

How to turn the parasited water in the site to potentiality ?

Treat standing water already present in the building.

Gradually fill the building with rainwater recovery.

Construction of a large pool and deck bleachers.

This project is an experimental study. The goal is to build a VILLA along the lines of a picture chosen randomly. This is not about recreating the perception of the PICTURE but to make a scientific research on the meaning, the mood and the time of the picture to compose an ATLAS. This atlas identifies architectural tools to define the spatial concept of the villa. The reference picture is a drawing of John Graves representing the tomb of Porsenna, Etruscan leader of the XIth century. This work was performed according to the text of Varron in the year -500 which is a strange description of the constituents of the tomb floor by floor. This led to several pictorial interpretations of the tomb. The atlas aim is to explore the commonalities between the interpretations, differences and choices of the authors in relation to their tendencies and interests to understand the strong points to keep for the design of the villa.

Literary description as Architectural projection tools.

Toy Library_Studio Ex-inspiration_Cedric Bachelard_Zurich_2015

The starting point of this project is the feeling during the site visit. The site is located in Zurich, near the Hallenstadium in a dense area of skyscrapers with office function and some homes, schools and parks. The dominance of Skyscrapers creates a serious and repulsive dimension in this place. Companies use their buildings to be competitive. We are in presence of various scales and the use of noble materials. In this uncomfortable Bigness, the idea is to create a toy library. It is a space for intergenerational meeting around entertainment and games. The challenge is to integrate a small scale project in this context of bigness. The location is strategic, it is located above the parking Hallenstadium. The toy library is raised 20m to master scale. The spatial structure consists of a general envelope offering large and bright spaces. Inside, some boxes are positioned to create dark and warm atmospheres with different themes. Between light and darkness, sound and silence, society and individuals, let the game starts.

Berlin Natural Sciencs Museum_Studio Mutation_Berlin_2014

A museum of natural sciences generates several questions. The primary is the management of a specific and unique content from the infinitely small to the infinitely large. The answer is a system of halls including the exhibits. In a contextual point of view, the existence of a common point of arrival of visitors (stop the train) is extended to create a square, characteristic of the Berlin cityscape. There is creation of a dynamic input area between the museum and the train line. The concept is a monolith that prevail around massive building. The heart of the discussion is mainly focused on the link between researchers and exhibits that occupy the same area. Two types of blocs with different typologies of exhibition/ technical spaces and research are established.

Resizing of the blocks is a logical extension to this position, technical zones are 18m wide and exhibition areas between 20m and 23m. The technical space is organized on three floors, the ground floor with an exhibition spaces and technical blocks, the r1 and r2 are exclusively for researchers and the collection. Part of the open area extends to these floors to make public the library room and a part of the collections.

Emergency housing_Saint Josse_Bruxelles_2012

The challenge of this project is to set in an extremely narrow site, imprisoned between two common walls three emergency housing for new arrivals (people whose residence is temporary). The emergency is to ensure all safety measures and comfort of a normal habitat. The idea is to create a hybrid project to parasitize this plot and adapt to its lower corners to derive all the benefits. Several modules hook on the common walls. Public housing space block is split into several modules that hook into the huge sides of the alley.
