Tips on Painting Walls Painting walls is the easiest way to spruce any mundane interior. It can dramatically alter the look and feel of any room by just applying new coat and shade of paint or by using other painting techniques. However, without proper skills and knowledge your initiative in alleviating your interior aesthetics may result to a drastic change you would regret. Take note of proper ways on painting walls like a pro. Prep the surface The very foundation of a painting project lies on the preparation of the surface to be painted. This includes scraping, sanding, patching, smoothening and filling out every hole, crack, dent and blemish on the wall. Clean the dust off the walls using damp cloth before painting walls. Remember that making a shortcut in the preparation before painting walls will only result to an inferior painting quality. Moreover, no paint regardless of its cost, manufacturer’s claims, color or thickness can ever conceal the imperfections on the surface of the wall. Tape the trim, window and frame Use painter’s blue tape to protect the trim, window and frame from being painted. Once painting walls is done, remove the tape immediately. Prime the walls A primer serves many purposes that make it a significant factor to an excellent painting project. It is required when painting new drywall or painting over a dim color. Basically, applying primer over a wall prevents the stains from bleeding through, allows one-coat coverage for the paint, and enhances the hold of the paint. Also, priming the walls reduces blistering and peeling off of the paint. Use canvas drop clothes Unlike plastic drop clothes, canvas absorbs paint drops and lasts for a lifetime. It is also extremely durable and tear-resistant. Brush where you can’t roll

Use a paintbrush in painting walls that can’t be reached by the roller. Extend it out for two to three inches from windows, doors, trims and frames. Painting techniques Paint in long, continuous strokes instead of doing otherwise. When painting using a roller, try to cover three feet wide section at a time. Ensure to wet the brush and to get rid of the moisture as much as you can before you start. Also, keep the edge of the paintbrush always wet. Work from dry to wet. With the above-mentioned tips, you are headed for a professional-looking painting project. Just ensure to take note of the tips to guarantee excellent result and save time, effort and money
