eTwinnings’ Project Project approved by the eTwinning National Service on 9 of November, 2013

Objectives

Context/Relevance of the theme 2014 was declared the International Year of Family Agriculture (IYFF) by the United Nations. It aims to focus society’s attention on the significant role of family farming and smallholder farming concerning food security and nutrition. From an ecological perspective, where the environment is being protected and natural resources preserved, the occurrence of the theme: Agriculture, emerges as appropriate, timely and relevant. By developing an eTwinning project, the creation of a collaborative network between European nursery schools will be a favorable space to come up with new ideas and to implement innovative educational activities. It aims to foster cross cultural understanding concerning the European citizenship, the promotion of languages, technologies and an environmental education.

The Process The project will be prepared by the partners during the school year’s first term. During that period, a number of communication strategies, useful tools, possible activities and a predictable schedule will be defined. The creation of a platform (website) is included where the activities, the students’ projects and all that results from the communication between the different nursery schools are supposed to be published. The main purpose of this platform is to reveal the children’s work to the educational community. The project will take place during the schools tear’s second term: Initially there will be a first activity in which the students will present themselves and their school. The topic of the project – agriculture, shall be presented to the students as part of the curricular classroom project. There will be a number of activities that students will undertake in their school and ultimately share with other nursery school partners. These activities may be songs, poems, stories, picture dictionaries of agricultural products from their geographical zone, fruit trees games, the creation of a digital book related to environmental protection, etc. This activities could be reformulated by intervening teachers. The children will participate in the assessment of the project by taking part in discussions, drawings and a questionnaire.
